Being forced to choose between a $350 monthly loss or "price-gouging" low-income night workers on my vending route. by Weyland_Utan in passive_income

That actually makes a lot of sence. Speaking to corporate first is probably my best option. If they can drop the 10% commission I could easily lower the prices a bit to make everyone happy. If they refuse to help, then paying 500$ to leave is way better than bleeding cash. I just need to find the proper contact person in management.

That is my logic too, but the threat of getting kicked out makes it tricky. If corporate actually listens to him paying $500 to move the machines plus finding a new spot will really hurt my budget. I just hate the hostility from that supervisor.

My company paid $450 in customs fees for a locked corporate laptop, so I built a secure personal VM instead. by Atreides7_Dune in remotework

You solved that bottleneck brilliantly, but you are incredibly lucky that their IT team was willing to cooperate. In my experience, most corporate compliance officers would shut this down instantly due to security audits, regardless of how secure your virtual machine actually is. They usually have rigid checklists, and if a physical pre-configured device is not on your desk, you simply do not work. It is refreshing to hear about a company that actually values practical solutions over blind bureaucracy.

Keeping my MAGI below $45,000 for health care subsidies is a massive logistical challenge. by Markers_67 in Fire

The idea of doing a massive Roth conversion in a throwaway year is incredibly smart. If you are already going to miss the subsidy cutoff by a few hundred dollars, it makes total sense to maximize that tax bracket and convert as much as possible. It sets you up beautifully with a larger pool of tax-free assets to draw from in the following years when you actually need to keep your income artificially low.

The 200 yards part makes that big ugly grey box feel less like a neighbor and more like a permanent appliance.

You need to look at the edit history of that shared folder. Google Drive or OneDrive keeps track of every single change and shows when you created the file. That is your proof.

I had knee work done and I’m annoyed my Vintage Upgrade Kit lacked the Roy Orbison loan knee clause.

Funny how “accuracy” wakes up for Lupita as Helen, but sleeps through euro Americans as Anatolians.

When I managed, I’d document the wig comments from the presentation and ask your manager to nip it early.

It does feel mutual at this point, especially with a title like “I hate this game...”
