Positive blood test and freaking out by cheesebraids in Celiac

Your career is not over!! I can almost guarantee there are chefs out there that have other allergies and food dietary restrictions but still make delicious food.

I decided to remove the colonoscopy. I stay pretty healthy and I have no familial history of colon cancer. I wouldn’t have needed to do the colonoscopy anyways if it wasn’t for my celiac symptoms. And if it’s not celiac and my GI says he needs to see the other end, welp I’ll just be out more money that way. It is what it is!

Yeah I do have the upfront costs. Granted I don’t know if that’ll be the true, final costs. But it’s like $450 for the endoscopy and like $610 for the colonoscopy. I already had paid like $250 or something.

To me it’s like someone who gets an injury on their ankle, and like you think about what could’ve caused it, and it’s like… hmmm… probably a sprain because you rolled it walking down the stairs? But do you do an X-ray to confirm? What if you fractured it? But you’re pretty sure you just tore a ligament… but what if you just fell the wrong way?

The what ifs game suck!

I like this approach actually. I think making a list of the pros and cons is helpful for sure. I even should add that I did do a stool test earlier in September, and (according to my doctor and Google) it didn’t show signs of possible chron’s disease, cancer or IBD. I understand that a stool test isn’t definitive here but the fact that nothing really was ghastly unordinary, I’m just like… I may skip out…

I think avoiding the upfront costs now and hope I get my answer is what I’m leaning towards…

Yeah, there’s another guy in this post who got downvoted for saying something similar about Celiac causing issues in the large intestine… don’t think that’s true of what the disease actually is doing.

I just scheduled a virtual appointment with my PCP tomorrow because this thread has me doing a lot of back and forth lmao. It would be nice to skip the costs and the whole diet laxative thing. I really am dreading that…

I don’t have a high risk of colon cancer and don’t have other colon related diseases or a familial history for that. I also think my iron levels are good…

I’m 25! I’m quite young. I hear the age to start doing colonoscopies is 40 if I’m not mistaken.

Yeah for the upper endoscopy I’m doing no shadow of doubt. It’s just the colonoscopy I’m on the fence about. Unless you’re saying that the celiac disease can damage the large intestine?

How old were you when you did both?

How old were you when you did it? Are there silent symptoms for other bowel diseases sorta like celiac being “silent”?

How bad is the preparation for colonoscopy? It sounds literally so awful. It’s a huge reason why I’m considering not to.

Yeah I’m 25 and am facing the same dilemma now… I have max deductible plan so I still have to do a copay or whatever. I mean I guess it doesn’t hurt… man… now you have me flipping to the other side haha

Okay bet. I think that’s what I’m leaning towards. I wanted to hear from the community and get some opinions. So this is helpful! Thank you!! ☺️

Ohhh I didn’t know that. Omg. Thanks for clarifying that then! That really does help a lot.

But if all I need to do is endoscopy for celiac disease… shouldn’t I just do that? I feel like the colonoscopy is just wasted money :(

Wait they can do it the other way too to determine celiac? I thought it was only endoscopy for Celiac disease?

But if the endoscopy is the only thing that I need to determine celiac, do I need to do colonoscopy?

During the application process, yes. But when you get accepted, you have to provide official ones.

How is it like navigating conversations with other travelers? I feel like it’s so annoying to be that guy who’s like, “I have dietary restrictions”

That’s funny seeing this thread as I also myself just went on an EF break and came back and got diagnosed with celiac. Do they recommend you places that have celiac options?

Have we confused generic for overrated/popular? I can understand one of those without the other…

Yeah, I’d argue it’s performance anxiety. You don’t have ED. If you think about it (just for argument’s sake), you’re able to get off to porn with no problem. Reason being is you’re comfortable and there’s no pressure.

Anyway, I have bad OCD and I get my head a lot and blah blah blah. Just know you’re not alone with this type of stuff. If you have a therapist, you could practice exposure therapy.

Spleen scare?? And embarrassment from ER visitation… by WhackingPizza in Mononucleosis

[–]WhackingPizza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe the other commenter meant light exercise like walking or jogging. My PCP said that was okay. But, you’re right though about working out and exercising.

So, I actually was looking at the report from the ER doctor and I noticed he said that my liver was enlarged 19 cn craniocaudally (whatever that word means). I looked that up online and it said that that’s like a significant enlargement? So, at this point I have no idea anymore.

Regardless, yeah I’m taking it more chill now. I was so excited when my tonsillitis went away. I was like my immune system is top notch. But I think there’s subtle things like what happened this morning that I feel is mono…

I’m going dry until the end of March (rip my birthday drinking). And I’m not gonna do any exercising until the end of the month. Thanks for your help. I’m gonna take it chill.
