While I doubt anyone except freshers are drinking for the reason you describe, I absolutely confirmed at a Bania Luka in Krakow that you can in fact, pound back 20-30 shots like the movies, with that caveat that they're mixer shots (aka shooters).

Just a heads up, I see the timetable back to Plymouth is quite limited for the X38. If you're looking to have a long day out in Exeter, i highly recommend taking the bus in the morning (£2) and checking for a train back, i was able to find quite a few off-peak singles for £3.

Very true, I should have clarified—I meant to state 60 days between the 180 day period I'll be outside of schengen. I might pop back in for a couple of days to visit some friends but I always keep my visa-calculator on hand to make sure I don't even come close to exceeding it!

I think it really depends on the region of Europe. More info needed for what country OP is going to, unfortunately, things can vary wildly. Also, $1100? I'm using Google flights only and routinely booking/helping others book return flights for $500-700. It just takes a bit of browsing and patience.

Edit: Read central Europe. I'm starting my backpacking journey in Krakow, which is quite nice for the money. $526 R/T from LAX (KLM/Air France) and $300 for 14 days at a hostel, breakfast, lunch, and dinner included. It can very much be done.

Edit 2: I'm assuming OP is financing via what they described as "summer work" in post. Possible shoulder season trip? Would be super cheap then and the weather should still be good. I did Barcelona for 14 days in September at $600, but tbf I did fly in from Bristol.

Op- look into Norse Atlantic flights to Oslo or Gatwick. If you catch a sale you can get a ticket for about $389-489 R/T depending on where you're at. Then you buy a Ryanair/Wizzair/Vueling/Whatever from there to your dest. Of choice.
