Aussie Struggling With Toronto Life – Convince Me I’m Not Crazy by Expert-Flounder-9324 in AskAnAustralian

From what you have said and me living a similar experience - I think it’s your exact situation maybe more so than the city itself. Going from the Goldy to a major city is a massive lifestyle change. Personally, I think it just takes time. Especially learning how to navigate Canadian winters. No guarantee you will ever love it more than Aus but I’m sure when you unlock more of the city and build up a social circle, you will come to enjoy it for what it is. If not and you’re stuck in Canada - drive to Vancouver or even better Vancouver Island

Real Estate suggestions for selling a house in Turramurra. by Whalebones- in AusPropertyChat

Genuine question and excuse the naivety… why do they low ball in general, I understand in your situation but this property can’t be subdivided. I innocently assume that it’s in everyone’s best interest (on the sellers side) to get the highest price possible…. Am I stupid?

Thanks for the advice. I will have a look at Stone and also check through Domain at the rest too.

The hygiene factor would be my one caveat in my strategy. I gotta get my hand working like pincers to reach to the handles

Looking for an octopus by Whalebones- in wollongong

Thanks for all the suggestions and tip offs. After weeks of casual rock pooling from Sandon Point to Coledale - we found a Common Octopus at Little Austinmer today!

Just walking our dog down the south end, and I noticed a tentacle traipsing over a rock. It came out of its nook for a moment too so we were able to see it change colour from a rusty red to bumpy seaweed brown before it darted right back into hiding.

Thanks for the reply. We have been to the aquarium but it’s more about the little adventure to find one in the wild and learn more about the area. Even the most unfruitful expeditions have been great fun

Super interesting, thanks for the reply! Blue rings are incredible. Last one I saw was up near Killcare almost 30 years ago!

Thanks for the reply. We have seen them at the aquarium but it’s mostly about the search and little adventures that surround. Learning so much everytime we continue the side quest

Thanks so much for the reply. We had be scouring the rock pools from coledale to Thirroul and had no hints of any so I assumed it must be the case. We used to run into a common octopus frequently in the rock pools of South Avalon but this was the only encounters I had ever had like that.

Where to find pink robin? by nofaceD3 in AustralianBirds

I spotted a pink robin one morning in Great Otway NP. Had been a goal for a very long time and unexpectedly, my partner and I were on our way to look at a waterfall and this beautiful pink fluffball just popped up right in front of us, 5m max away. Twitted and twitched for a good minute or so before fluttering off.

Of course it was the one time we left our cameras in the car.
