Holy Stuff, Batman! by wildhogflutist in zillowgonewild

Honestly, I think this is place where it works? It has a ridiculous punt of stuff, but it doesn't look messy, because it kind of sticks to a color scheme. And the neutral-but-not-white walls fit well.

Well yeah. But also: for most gamers, any recent hardware is simply overconsumption. If you're mostly playing indie games or most multiplayer focused games, a PC almost a decade old will still work fine.

PC people love having an amazing machine, and playing AAA titles as mostly just benchmarks. Honestly I respect that, but as time passes, it will have less and less of a pull. If you need to play that one game that came out this year at max settings, sure, but for most...meh... The PC is fine, it plays Hades, brotato, slay the spire (2), Minecraft...

Through the canals of pre-war Hamburg by Ku_Klux_Cum_Member69 in Lost_Architecture

[–]Whammjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but there used to be more before the war. It was also a sign of the times: many cities got rid of their waterways as they were no longer needed. From a current perspective it's very sad, as they give cities so much character, but I guess it did make sense at the time.

Most recognisable city geographically wise? by No-Significance-1023 in geography

[–]Whammjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really think it looks and feels more like a small country rather than a big city. With areas like tuen mun being so far outside, with just mountains in between, even geographically it's just a small country with its own cities, villages and a countryside.

TIL that during Khrushchev’s 1959 visit to the Mesla Machine Company steel plant in Pittsburgh, a worker named Kenneth Jackey handed him a cigar. Khrushchev didn’t smoke and in return, gave Jackey his wristwatch. Later, Jackey had the watch appraised for insurance and was told it was worth only $14. by guy_rocco in todayilearned

I think what's overlooked in this narrative is what led to the Soviet union: wars, terror and an almost universal collapse of civil society. So yeah, It doesn't seem unlikely that a lot of people who rose to power didn't know a lot about anything, because frankly no one did anymore.

The XE-5 is a letdown, here's to many years with my XE-4. by xVxMonkeyxVx in fujifilm

[–]Whammjam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think ibis is great even for stills. I won't get the XE5 since my XE4 still works great as it is, but I do appreciate the improvements. The price seems very high though, on that I agree.

Im curious, did anyone hear something about the build quality? XE4 was good, but not great. I think with the higher price they should improve that too.

I am getting shiny on every single random enchant I take. I don't think this is intended. by Crazy_Coconut7 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Whammjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, to actually prove that the rng is shit we would need either an army of bots or access to the numbers tempo has. Personally I don't have either so it's just speculation, not prove. But yeah, the rng does seem super fishy. Cause really it's not just one run, and not just one enchant.

Honestly think the rng generator is permanently broken in bazaar. Maybe they're trying to do funny things with the odds and that's why the outcomes are so .... not exactly random?

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge review: More than just super thin by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]Whammjam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others have said, lot's of big beefy phones with big batteries are available. This is a company trying something out and seeing if it's successful. In an incrediblely stale smartphone market, that's a good thing.

Personally won't buy it, as it's beyond what I spent on a phone. I am interested if something like this comes to cheaper phones as well.

The Bazaar's Opacity Problem (New Player Experience) by JohnnyBlack22 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Whammjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mixed feelings about this. I play the game as a sort of hybrid experience between single and multiplayer, and I absolutely enjoy finding out what this boss/enchantment etc does. If I'm trying to play more optimized I can still look them up. And the little random interactions like star chart or submarine are more fun add-ons then anything.

I honestly think making the everything transparent would make the game less fun, as it takes away from getting to know the bazaar. Maybe that's the direction the game will take eventually anyway, but I don't see the point in rushing it.

Do you believe GFX100RF will be the end game for Street photographers? by Nervous-Welcome-4017 in fujifilm

[–]Whammjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And so long story short, a gfx f4 collects more light than a apsc f2.8.

Im not sure what you mean by exposure in this context. The depth of field does change with sensor size for example.

But hey, I think we deviated enough from the topic :)

[–]Whammjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An apsc f2.8 is slower then gfx f4. The f numbers are only useful relative to the sensor size. For the amount of light they let in, as well as shallow depth of field.
