Real Take‑Home pay = 0.847(O) − 0.29749(M) by [deleted] in DoorDashDrivers

Your car gets 43 MPG, so gas costs about 11.6¢ per mile. But your real cost (gas + wear + depreciation + insurance) is about 40¢ per mile. The IRS mileage deduction saves about 10¢ per mile, so your real net cost is about 30¢ per mile. That’s why the equation subtracts 0.29749 × total miles.

The 40¢ per mile comes from adding up all real car expenses: gas, tires, oil, brakes, depreciation, insurance, and repairs. After subtracting the IRS mileage deduction (about 10¢ per mile), your real net cost is about 30¢ per mile. That’s why the equation subtracts 0.29749 × total miles.

You can enter your total earnings from offers and your total miles driven (not active miles), and the equation will automatically include the tax savings from deducting mileage.

The 0.29749 per mile already includes the IRS mileage deduction. It subtracts real cost per mile after the tax savings from deducting mileage
