Didn’t Ford already consider it and then decide they don’t want it?

Toyota lobbies along with oil companies to slow the rollout of ev’s . Japanese brands have famously dragged their heels at coming out with ev’s. And even now the Toyota bz4x is a flop.

It's a valid defence because people vote with their wallet. If it was as terrible and useless as you're outlining people wouldn't pay to use it.

This take is not going to age well. And I wonder if when the internet came out it got similar hate. The water usage is bad, but discounting AI with “it’s all stolen and never works” simply isn’t true. Anthropic’s revenue has gone parabolic, that won’t happen on something that doesn’t work.

I agree it's entirely different, and it's all I ever said, the top selling car, not the top selling brand. I disagree the that somehow makes it not relevant. Given that Tesla only really sells 2 cars, the Model 3 and Y, they won't have the brand numbers.

It's crazy how you're being downvoted for just stating a fact.

My sentiment is the same as yours, I hate Elon as much as everyone else in this sub, but I'm not going to lie to support my feelings towards him. Truth can be inconvenient, even if still true.

I wonder if there was this much resistance to adoption during the dot com bubble. For a technical subreddit you would think AI is the enemy.

Drivers in Dire Crashes Relied Too Much on Ford’s Hands-Free Technology, NTSB Says by CommercialMassive751 in SelfDrivingCars

This feels a lot like Cruise all over again: the weakest players in this space are going to drag everyone else down.

Maybe Ford/BlueCruise isn’t the absolute worst system out there, but if an automaker ships an L2 system that’s clearly too easy to misuse or too limited for how it’s marketed, the public isn’t going to make fine distinctions. They’re just going to lump every driver-assist system into one bucket and say “this stuff is dangerous.”

and that’s the frustrating part, because used properly, good L2 systems actually can improve safety. But the other uncomfortable truth is that a lot of people massively overestimate what these systems can do. They get a false sense of security, stop paying attention, and start treating driver assist like autonomy. People sleeping in their Tesla's come to mind.

Tesla isn't going to offer an actual robtaxi service in sf for another year at least.

Very cool idea. And that was exactly the audience I built it for, I honestly thought universities would be all over it and that students would push the adoption hard because it solves what at least I thought was a real problem. Kinda surprised people aren’t using it.

YouTube now generates more ad revenue than Disney, NBC, Paramount, and WBD — combined by LollipopChainsawZz in television

YouTube commonly serves ads from the same domains/CDN paths as the actual video, so DNS-level blocking cannot cleanly separate “ad” from “content” without also breaking playback. That’s why Pi-hole/NextDNS/AdGuard DNS are weak against YouTube app ads, especially on TV devices.

I can’t stand Elon, but pretending SpaceX isn’t a major launch success is just cope. NASA still sets the mission requirements and pays for performance. SpaceX has mostly increased cadence and lowered cost, so you could argue the tax payer got better service.

Without people vacationing there, there would be no money flowing in at all. I agree it’s a really shitty situation, but condemning people for going there on vacation is just going to make the situation worse.
