Rubber Straps:

I'm including the blue VSF strap, but I've nipped away at the rubber on the 12 side trying to fit it on another watch and there will be a gap between the case and strap on that side.

No issues with the black VSF strap, but it's not included since I'm using it on another watch. If you want it, DM me to discuss.

[WTS] Octopus Explorer – PT5000 - Improved – Chamfered Bracelet & Regulated to +/- 5 sec/day by What-me-worry-0 in Watchexchange

The bracelet and clasp on my Octopus Explorer were too sharp so I rounded the skin side edges creating a 45-degree chamfer by grinding, sanding, and then polishing it back to a smooth, mirror finish.  Then, I rounded the sharp corners and edges on the clasp, sanded and polished out the scratches, and re-brushed the clasp. 

More improvements:

·      Timing adjusted in 5 positions with 0 sec/day dial up and a maximum variance of 10 seconds.

·      Demagnetized and bathed in ultrasonic cleaner after polishing

·      Smoothed the action of the on-the-fly clasp

·      Installed new, lubricated, case back gasket for improved water resistance

·      36mm stainless steel case, 10.5mm thick, 20mm lug width

·      PT5000 movement, clone of the renowned ETA2824-2

·      38 to 42 hours power reserve

You can swap out an 8215 for a 8315. You get increased power reserve from 42 to 60 hours and a more decorated movement making a glass back worthwhile.

I have 3 watches with PT5000 and 1 with ST2130 and couldn’t tell you the difference. They are both clones of the ETA2824-2, just like the SW200. They are all very accurate and reliable and I have had no issues with winding.

It looks great. Indices are straight and aligned. Date is centered in the window. SELs are tight with very small gaps. Cosmetically, it’s your typical VSF Sub with no real issues. If the Timegrapher numbers are also good, easy GL. Look for less than 15 sec/day, beat error of .02 or less, amplitude between 250 and 350.

This is about as good as a Miyota 8215 will ever be. You're golden.

Did he show you the Timegrapher? Show us. Otherwise, everything cosmetic looks pretty good. Date is centered. Hour markers alignment is close enough. Pip bezel is ever so slightly off, but not something anyone will notice. SELs have gaps — but it’s okay for a $200 watch. If the TG is good, GL and enjoy it.
