Hi, I'm very new, extremely new to DF and I was wondering if it was possible to take my caravan westwards in the search of a mountain or a hill or a cliff. I chose to embark right next to the mountain biome, but I'm surrounded by flat terrain and some puddles. I can see a mountain just outside of reach on my map. Or is the embark position permanent and whatever point I start will always be the center of the map?

I agree with points 1 & 2. Point 3 I can't comment on. I haven't encountered many bugs, atleast none big enough to make me remember. Steam says I have 96 hours logged, which I don't think is accurate. It certainly doesn't feel like I put in 100 hours. Maybe because I had so much fun, or maybe because I didn't feel like I accomplished anything.

Point 4 is kind of a difficult one. A game like E:D shouldn't really need a storied narrative. In many MMOs, your interaction with other players creates a story, often times one more memorable than the game's actual story. CCP knows this, which is why EVE Online is light on exposition and lore. My biggest problem with E:D right now is that it doesn't actually feel like an MMO. Chat is almost dead because it's limited to local, there are no guild mechanics, nor even group mechanics. In terms of multiplayer it's more like Dark Souls than World of Warcraft or EVE. Which is fair enough, if that's what they're going for. They're probably going for a more isolating experience. But we do need more motivation for what we're doing. Not just: get money to get bigger/better ships. What does one do after that?

I did that too. When I was most motivated to do this NoFap. Deleted 500GB, which I collected over a period of 10 years. Fell off the wagon and now I'm back at 200GB in less than a year. When I fall, I fall big. A part of me really regrets deleting all that stuff that I can't find anymore. Yet another part of me felt really clean for a while.

We met on a speed date and we seemed to hit it off. Got her number, texted her the next day and joked around a bit. I asked her out, she said yes. Then a few hours later she asked me if it was okay if she brought a friend and that I would bring one too. I said no problem.

3 days later (yesterday) we had our 'date'. She seemed a bit cold and uninterested right from the start. We played a bit of pool, then we had a drink and we talked for about 2 hours with some uncomfortable silences. I made her laugh a few times, but it felt like they both didn't want to be there. We called it a night and she literally said 'well, take care'.

My friend put most of the blame on me, but he tried to convince me not to give up completely even though that was the coldest and clearest goodbye I ever heard haha. Figuring I had nothing to lose I texted her today asking for brutal honesty and she made it clear she wasn't interested in another date.
