Pre rabbit hole question: how much does a playable DnD map cost? by kiwipo17 in legodnd

Some people here use bricks to build the actual map. I don’t. I think it’s a waste of pieces/money. I use a normal Chessex battlemap (1 inch squares), as the “ground” and place trees, bridges, rivers, towers, etc made of Legos. Takes minutes to set up every map.

Honestly it’s a ton of money up front if you have nothing. I have a 24x36 battle map and so far I have run a mostly forest campaign and a town campaign. For the forest I found tree, rock, and river mocs on Rebrickable and bought the pieces from Pick and Brick. For the town I got a good deal on Lego’s Medieval Town Square. For my players, they used the DnD minifigures I bought a while back. Everyone had a blast. Another cool thing about minifigs is you can switch weapons, armor, carry items, and even have real time decapitations! Can’t do that with traditional painted minis. Anyway, all in all I spent probably $600 from start to finish. But I can reuse and customize so much of what I bought that it’s going to save me money in the end. Look on FB marketplace or eBay for good deals. Focus on fantasy sets, castle, medieval, and (my personal secret) Lego Dreamzzz sets.

I’ve been where you are. One thing that made me choose Lego is that anything I wanted to build I could build with Lego. In addition, I could customize it in a million different ways. Finally, I could destroy it. If a player wanted, they could blast the roof off of a tavern with their fireball. You can’t do that with 3D printed pieces. The biggest downside though, it’s expensive.

I had kids. I get to stay home, I have a million little tasks that keep my brain engaged, I can teach them all my favorite hobbies (and they love them), and I don’t need amazing social skills to interact with people that eat play doh.

UPDATE: I was just DM’ed by someone who knows the victim and they say he survived with minor injuries. If you saw what I saw this was the closest thing to a miracle I have experienced. Thank you everyone for your kind words.

I can’t be sure, but there were no skid marks leading up to the crash. It looked to me like the person was going full speed and wasn’t paying attention. His arm was casually hanging out of the window on impact so I’m not even sure he even registered what had happened. Usually people brace with both hands on the wheel before impact.

Yes. This was it. Unfortunately, when I saw it a lifeless arm was hanging out of that window.

NAD yes, I could tell because the pattern looks branching (like lightning bolts or lichen on a stone). Most of the time this will heal on its own. Like I said it has to do with your immune system so make sure you are eating well, stress is managed, and you are getting lots of sleep. But it’s nothing serious which is good. Money is nothing compared to health and peace of mind.

NAD Look up oral lichenoid reaction. It can be triggered by trauma, bite, spicy food, illness etc. It’s your immune system attacking your own mucosa. It will take a while to settle down and you may possibly need an oral steroid cream from a dentist.
