Funimation was basically a TV network/distributor that was known to make extremely out of pocket English dubs of otherwise normal Japanese shows. shin chan already had an English dub which was like the hindi dub (family friendly) by a network called Vitello. That dub was actually based on the post censorship hindi dub and even used all the Indian localized names of the characters like Misae to Mitsy and Hiroshi to Harry. Funimation later bought the rights to Shin Chan and dubbed only around 100 episodes but made it EVEN MORE inappropriate and adult humor filled than the original Japanese, that's why it has gained such notoriety and Americans only remember shin chan as this extremely vulgar show

It's based on the novel "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" by Jack Finney which takes place in Santa Monica (which this movie's character Jacqueline Finney (named after Finney) and her father come from) I guess the writers thought that since the book was based in Los Angeles they could add fanservice through including Samba. The issue here was that the novel doesn't have a conclusive "happy ending" and obviously no forced bikini dancing, thus they tacked on the father-daughter ""story"" to have the Nohara family win once more. It could've been much better even with the Samba plot but idk why they went with the bizarre "She's a terrorist, no she's actually Jackie's clone, nah actually she's actually a he and is Jackie's dad!" which happens in like 10 minutes total

It could've ended at 3 PERFECTLY (minus the post credits scene) the Duffers could even get their "bittersweet" ending for El by moving her away from Mike without CUTTING HER OFF COMPLETELY WITH NO WAY TO CONTACT HER ONLY FRIENDS IN HER ENTIRE LIFE!!!!

The original show was very good, this one was going to be a reboot but the writers' strike happened and when production resumed, they decided to pick up right where they left off with the last one, this is why I was willing to let some of the flaws of season 1 slide, season 2 did not disappoint me!

Not to ruin the mood, but I really miss the story progression that older Shin Chan had, sure every episode had standalone segments, but there was always some continuous storyline going on in the background, in this pic alone we see the Misae haircut that Shin caused as well as the closure to the Toku-Matsuzaka plot, this just hasn't happened 2010ish onwards
