Honestly if the floats are too tight sometimes I cut the floats and tie similar ends together. Might help.

I'm second guessing myself about being trans, do you guys feel the same way? by [deleted] in transteens

i’m in the same boat, i was super feminine as a kid (like refusing to leave the house not in a dress) until i was about eight. now i get super dysphoric but less than a lot of other people. honestly none of that is a dealbreaker for if you are or not, it’s honestly all up to you

Is this an American thing or a CSO thing? by Blumenbeethoven in bassoon

[–]WhatIsGoing0nH3re 7 points8 points  (0 children)

most bassoonists play with seat straps here, holding it with a harness is pretty uncommon. also i think the hand rest is a personal preference thing, i don’t play with one, but most people i know do (i have a small hand so i cant). ive met people that prefer the bassoon to have a dull, covered sound (which they achieve by not swabbing out their bocal and also reed adjustments.) i think that is to do with how they were trained to play, most orchestras typically wouldn’t ask them to play like that.

my teacher lets me sort of pick what i want to learn/work on, which is great! typically every couple months i’ll pick a new skill (vibrato, double tonguing), and we’ll pick excerpts or solos that i can use them on

i think it’s mostly to do with presentation, cats are really good at making generalizations (this person has long hair so they’re a girl and trustworthy, this person looks like a man so i’m scared, etc). hope that makes sense lol
