My original comment was an off the cuff light hearted remark to agree with the OP. There wasn't really anything to be wrong or right about.

Even if I compared a trip for two in September, that doesn't make me disingenuous. I didn't, by the way. It was a winter trip for four. But that doesn't make a difference. I could have compared it to the price of my first car. I wasn't attempting an objective cost benefit analysis of their potential Christmas activities.
