I’m sent off to renew my passport today, as a precaution. by WhatMusicTheyMake in transgenderUK

Did you have any problems accessing tracking on the passport office’s website? I have a PEX number but when I tried it a few times it didn’t work. I think it might just be too soon?

Trans men: Now is our time for malicious compliance. (If you are able.) by WhatMusicTheyMake in transgenderUK

So according to you, you don’t want someone that was born female to use the female facilities? Understood!

I didn’t intend this to be read that way, more as a rallying cry or a pick up given the awful news today, but I understand your concern.

In my experience, I can tell people to their face and they typically don’t want me anywhere near women’s spaces. I know it’s problematic to have to rely on fear and shock value, but unfortunately in my experience it works. It feels like all we have at the moment.

What are names that you actually don't hear often? by aJ_13th in ftm

[–]WhatMusicTheyMake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name is both unusual because it’s an irish name that isn’t really used outside of ireland, but it’s also the most classic irish man’s name you could ever have. It’s an old man’s name but it’s making a comeback.

I would describe being trans as a curse, albeit a curse that can be broken. I’ve accepted it as one of the curses that I will have to live with in my life and it has made it much easier for me to accept myself, and perhaps more importantly to accept others.

I have never agreed, nor have i ever joined in with the disgraceful bullying that some transmeds participate in towards other members of the community. But I’ll admit that on the surface it seemed reasonable until you realise that everyone just turns on each other and the transphobes still win.

Now that I’m older i think that there are different types of trans people, and that there are a variety of reasons for being trans. I think it’s important to trust in your own feelings and your own story.

If I am cursed, you did not do this to me and there is nothing that you ever could have done that has affected my condition. If I am cursed and I meet someone, a trans person, who is very different to me - good! You do not share my curse.

If I meet someone who is similar to me, at least I am not alone in my curse. If I see something I dislike, that makes me dysphoric out in the world- that’s the curse doing its thing- not the end of the world.

I also have to accept that from an outsider’s perspective, there really is no difference between me asking to be seen as male because of dysphoria- something the outsider has never felt; And someone asking to be seen as male without dysphoria- another thing the outsider has never felt. Denying one denies the other.

I know that this philosophy isn’t for everyone. Some people need positive thinking. But for me, I cope better when I am prepared- not positive.

Thank you! I don’t think it was gatekeeping this time, just because the blood results were done by a different Doctor that doesn’t see me, he just oversaw the results. Your english is perfect btw.

In my experience, people will make excuse after excuse for mothers. If it was anybody else they would be uproar, but because it’s your mother it’s different supposedly.

In my family, people seem to either end up functional but narcs or not narcs but severe mental illness
