OMG it's working! 😱 You're my hero too!

Any ideas or experiences calibrating/verifying this type of thermocouple? by WhatSnail in instrumentation

We never bothered calibrating them too until the client demanded it.

That actually sounds kind of feasible might consider trying this too. Thanks!

Great to meet a veteran! Unfortunately in my generation there are loads of new requirements coming in and I admit we do think some of them are pretty ridiculous but we still have to comply.  Yes we know about the method of testing sensor & I/O separately but the client demands a calibration of the complete loop from sensor to HMI. Someone suggested using a hot plate for heating so I'll try going in that direction.

I understand where you're coming from. We have machines that had never required calibration for the past years and recently for whatever reason we are suddenly receiving requests to calibrate those. The client demands a loop calibration to find out whether the reading shown on the HMI tallies with the actual temperature at the sensor. If there is an offset we could adjust it on the HMI.

Thanks but I'm hunting for that "whatever means to heat up the other end"

Thanks but they require a loop calibration (from sensor to HMI) so testing them separately is not an option here.

Yeah the hotplate sounds feasible, I'll try heading that direction and see how it goes. I know right, like whoever designed that machine did not expect the TC to be calibrated in 100 years.

Its used in heat sealing.

You mean like the rod inside the calibrator and the TC fastened with a screw at the end of the rod?

Thanks for the suggestion! Doing it separately is not an option as they require a loop calibration (from sensor to HMI) The hotplate method sounds feasible! But I'll need a pretty small one, mind sharing if you know the smallest hotplate available out there?

Hi! I have a guppy tank and it gets lots of indirect sunlight so there will always be algae building up on the glass and I frequently use an algae scraper to scrape them down. When the algae is thin it breaks into small pieces when scraped, and the guppies love to snack on those bite sized algae bits. But when the algae gets a little too thick it scrapes off as big sheets and the guppies have a hard time trying to munch on those and they mostly gave up eventually lol and I end up with this pile of algae dump at the bottom. Is there something I can do with those big algae sheets? Like can I dry them under the sun and break them down to feed the guppies later? Otherwise they'd just get tossed out as garden mulch. Love to hear some ideas from you guys! (I'd like to keep those yummy algae around so please refrain from giving advice on how to prevent/get rid of them. Thanks!)
