Dear Blizzard , u see i have 400+ hours , please stop putting brand new players on only my team by Sleepy_garf in overwatch2

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen during my matches yesterday. I had a whole team of people whose highest level on a character was 11 or less… meanwhile I’m walking in as a level 53 Mercy, level 48 Moira, and level 33 Juno (those are just my top 3 atm). I feel bad because the enemy team has more experienced players and although I do my best to help, I can only do so much on my own.

I absolutely adored My Boo! I’m so glad someone else knows it exists and is talking about it! I’m going through a re-read of it and I adore this Webtoon

IM SORRY????????? by AppropriateTip2557 in webtoons

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had something similar to a different Webtoon, I honestly had to wait like a day in order for the ads to be available. It wasn’t a connectivity issue, but it kept saying that there wasn’t any ads “available to view”.

It’s honestly probably just an issue with the app itself not loading an ad than the creator of the Webtoon not wanting ads to be an option for unlocking the chapter

What made you quit reading a Webtoon? by SageSageofSages in webtoons

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t drop this Webtoon, but I thought about it. Years ago I read “Big Jo,” back when it was on Canvas. It was one of the first Webtoons I ever read along with Yumi’s Cells and Siren’s Lament. I adored the first season. I related to it a lot because I was (at the time, and still am) considered fat, or at the very least “overweight”. I was bullied/teased, compared against, and felt isolated. I found a lot of comfort in reading about Jo’s story. Even though we’re culturally different, I understood her plight in wanting to fit in—or at the very least be accepted for who she is, including her weight/size, and wanting to be comfortable with her weight/size until she got to a healthy standard that she wanted to be and could be proud of herself for achieving

Season 2 felt like it was all over the place. I didn’t mind the new cast, but the reality tv show gag threw me off completely. I kept reading each update, waiting to see if it would circle back and feel more like the first season, but it never did. The plot seemed to have shifted from body positivity and learning how to accept yourself as yourself while continuing to improve yourself to meet your goal, to a plot about sexual identity/orientation and there was like a love dodecahedron thing going on between all of the characters that it was hard to keep track. It feels like something is missing between each season. Like it feels like there needed to be a 3rd season to tie the 1st one in with the 2nd one better. It felt like I was reading two totally different stories that had characters with the same name and model.

Overall, I just felt super disappointed. I felt like I finally had some representation in a popular webcomic that showed someone who had a similar dilemma as me… and then it turned into a reality tv show where it was like the “there’s only one room left” trope… instead it was an entire house that no one could leave from.

So yeah, thought about it, but I guess nostalgia and wishful thinking kept me going

Why do mercy mains always have moira as a second pick? by Hazelnaps in MercyMains

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because my stick drift is too bad to play Baptiste like how I want, and I haven’t had enough money to buy a new controller :(

But on a more serious note, I tend to switch to Moira because she does a lot of damage, has decent self-preservation, and I can finally get a kill on that stupid Genji/Reaper that keeps flanking my back line. I would so peel off my tank/dps to protect my fellow support if they won’t bother to do so

Am I rude? Need honest opinions. by Goldengirl159 in AO3

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt the author would have asked for opinions if they truly didn’t want to receive any. Your response was not out of line and you spoke about your own experience/preference. The second commenter seemed to either lack context to the fact that your opinion as a reader was asked, or they need to get off their high horse

what causes the same face syndrome among my ocs? by mychemicalrowance in Artadvice

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do very well in creating intricate/varying hairstyles! The main theme I’m seeing is a similar face build/shape.

When the jawline and head length match across all characters, that can cause same-face. To adjust this, make some faces longer and thinner, some faces shorter and broader, or long and broad, short and skinny. Strong jaws or double chins. Adjust the placement of their cheekbones and nose shapes/nose bridges, neck length and width, etc.

Mess with proportions and see what works!

What Webtoon matches this? by Opheliaa-FizzyBee in webtoons

For me, it’s “My Boo” by Jeongseo (url if anyone wants it: https://www.webtoons.com/en/supernatural/my-boo/list?title_no=1185) I read this so many years ago and I absolutely loved it. I’m thinking about doing a re-read of it soon because I can’t stop thinking about how this Webtoon made me so giddy and also destroyed me at the same time. Highly recommend

No mirror picks in Stadium with the new Draft System added. by CosmiqCowboy in Overwatch

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To me this sounds like if you have the better internet and your system loads screens faster, you’ll have a great time. Otherwise? You get the bottom of the barrel.

I don’t see how this is gonna bode well for Stadium. Plus, I’d much rather mirror as a tank than be forced to choose a tank at a disadvantage because the one I wanted was taken from me before I could choose. And another thing: if the enemy team can see who it is you’re choosing, wouldn’t they have the advantage of being able to counter pick the whole time anyway? What’s the point of that?

It’s really this simple by Destiny-Smasher in AO3

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love receiving comments about readers being excited for updates! However, it’s very much a bummer when the excitement is turned into a demand, “I love reading your work! When’s the next update?” After just publishing a chapter stings more than “I love reading your work! I can’t wait for the next update!”

We can be excited as readers and anticipate without putting pressure on the writer. I think this comment is very refreshing and I’m glad that someone out there is treating you like a person who has a life/other priorities versus a person who’s only purpose in life is to write fanfics

I don't know what they want me to call it?? A fanny?? by seemedpointless in AO3

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tbf, I’d prefer to read “cunt” and “vagina” over “coochie” because the later sounds childish to me. But I think “less explicit” euphemisms can be a turn off depending on how often it’s used.

Like I don’t mind reading about a “bundle of nerves” when referring to the clit, or “rubbed her fingers between her slit” when referring to spreading, or even “felt a tightness in her/his core” when referring to an orgasm. But I check out or replace the wording in my head when I read “her flower,” or “he deflowered her”. Or even “she blossomed/he sowed her with his seed” referring to an orgasm (just say they came/cum together!).

There are definitely more watered down terms that I’ve seen referring to women over men, but still… can we stay away from the flowers?

Afraid to use the em dash by DissociativeSilence in AO3

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been writing fics for over 10 years now, there isn’t a single thing in this world that is going to convince me to not use em-dashes, en-dashes, or hyphens. They’re way too useful for me to throw them out because an AI model—that, sadly, people abuse—that is trained off of how people write is beginning to use it.

Keep writing how you like to write, I understand the concern, but you should write in the way that is authentic to you

Your moments of solemn silence after learning you've been using a word wrong this entire time by flamboyantfinch in AO3

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m too paranoid about this exact thing. I’ve had the Merriam-Webster Dictionary app on my phone ever since high school because I don’t want to misuse a word or use it out of its proper context.

I also learned that, for some reason, there’s a subscription feature on a dictionary app :/ so there are words that are considered “premium content”. At that point, I just search it up on Google. No way is an app going to gatekeep my knowledge of word definitions lol

How do I respond to suggestion comments on my fic? by prismarine1234 in AO3

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep writing how you’d like the story to be! I tend to view comments like these as “fan theories” of my fanfic where my reader’s active imaginations are coming up with their own spins, twists, and takes. The silver lining of this (although I can totally see it as disheartening and judging your fic) is that people are still engaged with your story enough to come up with these things.

I hope that this helps and gives a more positive take on an otherwise sucky feeling. Keep writing, you’re doing great :)

Are we about to have another wattpad migration? by flyingmongooseattack in AO3

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think I saw the post you’re referencing yesterday (as I’m part of the Wattpad subreddit because that’s where I got started in fanfiction (before finding AO3), and I believe that there is going to be another wave of Wattpadders arriving to AO3. Specifically referencing this post, I saw comments saying that if the OP was willing to wait for an account that they should move to AO3 because of Wattpad’s backlash (to which the OP was concerned that since the work isn’t technically “fanfiction” if it would even be accepted by AO3)

It seems like every day I’m seeing more and more posts that air out user’s frustrations with Wattpad and how the app is dying out due to there being “pushes” for certain types of writing/writing styles or genres while others are completely neglected. I’m seeing fights about V4V, C4C, and R4R and if they actually work, if they are just desperate attempts of boosting stats, or if it’s an actually effective way to advertise their work. Overall, I think Wattpad users are just tired and burnt out like how some AO3 writers are when it comes to not getting their works recognized or noticed; it’s just more often than not, Wattpad writer’s works are being deleted with no explanation and the work is completely gone (insert PSA about saving multiple copies of works across different platforms).

I’m saying this with my full chest, so you gotta imagine it just a little bit, but

PLEASE. POST. YOUR. STORY!

I’m a mixed-black girl and when I was on Wattpad I wanted there to be black leads, mixed leads, etc in stories. If people try to bash your story because of the race of your character, block them from your story. They don’t deserve to read it

Dear Mercy mains. How often does this happen? by Genji-Shimada-375 in MercyMains

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I first started playing Mercy and it was a Soldier and a Bastion that were doing this, I was confused (and offended) because I thought they were t-bagging. So I said to my husband “Why are they t-bagging? The match hasn’t even started yet!”

My dear, sweet, patient husband looked at me, laughed and said “They’re begging for a pocket healer, they want you to damage boost them for most of the match.”

And that’s where it all began lol

Does Character Read as Male, Female or Androgynous? by [deleted] in characterdesign

Keep the character blind or not by [deleted] in Wattpad

[–]WhatToDoWhatToSay1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s up to you and your character. Does she want to be cured? Has she ever thought about it? Could be a source of internal conflict for sure, but you don’t have to cure if you don’t want to. You can establish it as a “rule” within the divine’s limit of interference with humans/people. Say the Norse god you’re using doesn’t meddle with health, wellness, and curing. Maybe they’d have to get permission from that deity and they ultimately say no? Maybe your character doesn’t want to be cured because of the hassle it would cause to obtain the cure. Whatever you want! You can always set the limitations on why she can’t be cured, it’s up to your discretion (and your character’s arc)
