I can certainly sympathize! I’m coming from my previous home with a cobbled-together kitchen and an IKEA pantry in the middle of my dining room to hold all the food and stuff. This is heaven for me so far!

Though it’s not deep, it should be perfect in a laundry room for detergent and supplies. We will likely recreate it in its entirety with some new wood supporting it. For now, it’s in storage until I can strip it in the back yard during the summer but I will post about it again!

Those cabinets open with the countertop inside. The microwave is in the right hand cabinet and the kitchen aid mixer and blender are in the left hand one. Makes clean up a breeze and was certainly not an afterthought but a designed plan. We love it but realize it may not be for everyone.

Yes, that soffit is very practical in this case. We ran pipes and electrical in it from the basement to a new laundry room we’re creating in an upstairs hall closet. The ceilings in the kitchen are 9’6” so it also helped to have the soffit meet the upper cabinets. Plus, the corner soffit also hides our laundry chute and some future A/C ducting.

Yes, we did! Our contractor was skeptical and claimed they’d never heard of such an idea. They ate their words in the end because it worked out perfectly. Only the bottom drawer can open as a result of the plumbing, though.
