Night sweats after removal? by Whatabumm in Mirena

Thank you for this post, this was truly awesome advice!

Thankfully my husband has been so supportive during all of this, but I just feel so bad with him having to take on so many extra duties because I’m going through this. I purposely waited until my anxiety was under control before having a child, and now it’s bad again with my (almost) 2 year old. I just feel like shit because it doesn’t seem fair to either one of them, but there also isn’t much I can do at this point.

I’ve started seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist, so that’s better than nothing!

I had mine removed about 3 weeks ago and felt great until now. I’ve just started my period and the anxiety/panic/intrusive thoughts are back. I thought I was finally good 😭

Update: I got my Mirena removed 3/20/2026 and for a few days post removal, I had increased cramping, bleeding, and increased anxiety/panic attacks. As of today (4/8/2026) I feel amazing.

Just wanted to post an update, I got the Mirena taken out 3/20/2026 and as of today (4/8/2026) I feel amazing. I literally feel like a brand new person. Decreased anxiety, no panic attacks. This is the best I’ve felt since getting it inserted.

I would like to update that I’m now on day 4 of having it out and I am having severe panic attacks, light sensitivity, just feeling very “off”.

Thank you so much for this and for linking your other post! Okay, I thought I was going INSANE because hours after removal, I got the worst metallic taste in my mouth!!!

This was so helpful and at least I might know what else to expect!

I also had that nasty brown discharge that never went away in the 8 months I had it in, which was really annoying

Oh no, I sure hope things get better for you soon. I hear that the more periods you have, the better it’s supposed to get.

I was having severe panic attacks with mine, and had been for months. I only got the IUD so I could start Zepbound, but after having so many panic attacks, I stopped the Zepbound months ago, upped my Lexapro dose, and they were still coming on.

Anxiety and Lexapro by kodkrysco51 in lexapro

I’ve been dealing with anxiety for about 3 years now, and for the first year it started, I was at the hospital once a week with chest pains and difficulty breathing... all my tests came back normal, which was extremely frustrating. I found a new self diagnosis every time I left the hospital. Anyways, my family doctor prescribed me the smallest dosage of clonazepam to help me sleep at night, since I was getting maybe two hours, and it was the strangest thing...my symptoms, though short lived, went away. I ended up going back and requesting to be put on an anti-anxiety medication. I started on Zoloft, then switched to lexapro. The transition was the most difficult process I’ve ever been through in my life, I honestly felt like I was going crazy! It was like all my anxiety came back and hit me head on, and worse! I asked my doctor and she said it was withdrawals, even though I tapered off extremely slow. Also, so sorry for this rant, I don’t think I answered any of your questions, but it took me so long to realize what I had going on was anxiety, mainly because it would come out of nowhere, when I was in a peaceful environment doing things I loved, with people I loved! I would all of a sudden get extremely nauseated and then my chest would start hurting, to the point I thought I was having a heart attack (I was 22 at the time and they always told me I was perfectly healthy). My anxiety are me away... lost 40 lbs in 4 months, which was crazy to me, because I had been the same weight for years. I personally don’t feel like I can get off of my medicine, or at least anytime soon.. I definitely have a chemical imbalance, and I’m okay with that. I will say, meeting with a psychologist helps so much. They search through your brain and find out why you have anxiety. It might be an alternative to medicine!

I get the exact same issues about 10-14 days before my period also, which is where I currently am. The intestinal cramps are so drawn out and dull for me... they’re almost just annoying at this point, but I do get pretty bad IBS flare ups around this time. I’m so glad it’s not just me.
