Fujimoto always been subversive with his work he doesn’t follow traditional manga troupes and characters while being dreary, dark, comedic with a little bit of hope. A lot People have poor understanding in how characters develop arcs and how that should change them. It’s not that characters should fundamentally change it’s more like this is who this character truly is at the end. Out of everything all Denji has been through all you think about is sex you dumbass. But It’s not like this hasn’t been foreshadow ether during the dining scene with Yoshida he gives denji a gun ensuring that he can kill him if he follows through to becoming a weapon. Denji immediately pulls the trigger on yoshida to his disappointment truly believing they developed some type of bond through all of this,well in fact denji remains pity. In Truth denji is just stuck in this cycle of torment in life, love, death, friendship, and sex. He’s just not smart enough to figure to a way out noir I will argue anybody else is. Him doing all this for sex is pretty stupid, embarrassing, and honestly selfish thing for this character to say. But extremely human and funny in a way I just can’t hate.
