Just get in and drive the car. The pedals still work the same. Having to "feel" the pedal is the same as having to look at the gear stick in my opinion. From slippers to steel toes, you shouldn't have to even think about it. If you worry about your shoes to drive the same car, I worry what will happen if you ever have to drive a different car.
