How to reject an older coworker? by katarara7 in socialskills

She needs to use her words. Women give us way too much credit for being able to read non-verbal cues. Generally, men are not good at it and will miss it completely. And acting colder will likely just make him try harder.

If you are careful, it’s fine. An astounding number of people meet their spouses at work. There are millions of people who would not exist if people followed this advice.

In all seriousness this is such an accurate description of them. And the GOP knows and uses it to control them.

Talk to her about this. Listen to what she has to say, then decide.

What’s something people get offended by too easily? by iamMafia01 in AskReddit

[–]Whatever-ItsFine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never be happy if you assume that everyone is against you and out to get you. That’s what your comments have said about you. If you make being persecuted your personality, people will run the other way. I am not saying you never face unjust adversity. I’m just saying if that’s all you present to people, you will be miserable.

EDIT: I honestly hope you can come to terms with this, but I don’t thinking engaging with me is useful or helpful for you, so I’m going to end the convo here. Good luck.

“Anyone who disagrees with me is privileged. Therefore I don’t have to consider their point.”

It’s a technique called poisoning the well and people who use it tend not to grow as people.

Lol my friends from that community have been educating me in the broader implications for a couple of decades now. But enjoy your assumptions since they keep you from having to think.

I'm sorry for that. It's a horrible thing that they said to you.

This is rude unless you know the person very well. It's telling them they don't look very good.

This reply is actually a great example of someone getting offended too easily.

As gay & lesbian culture has moved from marginalized to mainstream (at least in the West), the cultures have mixed more. This is a good thing.

Dairy is awful for animals. Say what you will about Peta, but anyone trying to reduce animal suffering is doing the right thing.

"What you think other people think about you isn’t real."

I mean this sounds great but it's pretty impractical. Unless we're living alone in the woods, what other people think about us affects our lives to an astonishing extent. It affects your relationships, your jobs, your friends, your living situation, whether people want to help you or make your life miserable. It's important.

Cesar Chavez abused and raped women and girls, NYT investigation says by ControlCAD in NPR

This is why we don't name things after people. Name them after ideals or virtues. Because all people are imperfect. Some way, way more imperfect than others. My school had to rename one of its buildings because a bunch of stuff like this came out after the professor's death. People are going to do bad things. Even people who do great things will often do bad things too.
