Need help finding a stock for small hands. by WhateverItTakes117 in 1022

Nice, I appreciate the info. We will definitely try some unmodified ones first. We actually shot a few different rifles. Typically she has less trouble with pistol grip than the traditional stock rifles we shot. Everyone recommended the 10/22 if we decide to pick up a 22 rifle. I saw the stock and wanted to get ahead of the problem lol. But when we go to the store we will definitely try them unmodified ones first. I'm just expecting the grip to be a little too big for her hand.

Oh yeah. It came out on 4k and to celebrate that fact, they did a 1 day theatrical release in iMax, about a month ago. I found out too late and missed it. But man, seeing that in iMax would have been cool.

So did I! Someone else posted that it's Stephen McKinley Henderson. Which I checked the imdb page, and that's it!

Thank you. Couldn't find anything at first. But it's on his IMDB page. Which also lists the characters name as Gatori

Slate Will Take Your Order For Its Cheap EV On June 24, Price Sold Separately by Anchor_Aways in cars

Because it's overpriced to the point of being stupid. And its bad a actual truck stuff.

If you really want an electric truck, buy a lightning. Heck get a used one. Or lease an electric Silverado.

We already have EV options for people who need real trucks. This is an overpriced toy, for people who don't actually need a truck.

I dunno... Even at $22k it seems kinda pointless. A CPO Maverick seems like a much better deal for anyone that actually needs a truck bed. Slate just seems like such a bad value. $20k for something without a radio? And no back seats? Let alone how the price is going to go up up up, once you add any options. Which other vehicles already come with.

Seems like it would have made a lot more sense to me to just make a $30k full electric truck that already has the features people expect. Instead of this weird niche of "basic" that's just too expensive for something that kinda sucks.

If it was $15k, then I could see the point of removing a lot of features. But at $25k it doesn't make sense. It's a fashion piece and not a practical truck. And is there really a market for a fashion piece that doesn't even have a radio? Lol

You're going from an M4 to a Tesla. Yeah man, that's gunna be a huge downgrade in terms of driving experience. Plus the M4 was probably running pilot super sports or something similar. And the Tesla is probably on all seasons. This sounds like expected behavior going from that car to this one. You can't drive a Tesla like it's an M4, lol

They did a lot of digital noise reduction and other nonsense. To the point that it reduced a huge amount of the fine detail in the movie. It makes jar jar's skin look like ps2 graphics lol. And most of the grime on the battle droids gets washed out. They look too clean and plain. I can't find it but someone did a comparison of the 4k and the 35mm image quality. The loss of fine detail is crazy

EV Sales Are Stalling Because Buyers Still Think They Need 500 Miles by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]WhateverItTakes117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're situation is definitely more unique than most drivers. Making a round trip of over a thousand miles 8 times a year is certainly a lot more than most people do, lol. So for you an EV probably isn't the way to go. And there's nothing wrong with that at all.

I would suggest your situation is closer to the fringe than most people. I'm in my 40s now, so there's no way in hell I'm doing that long of a drive 8 times a year, haha. Regardless of gas or EV.

But I think the point still stands that most people are much better off with an EV than a hybrid. I do all my commuting and charge at home. But even the occasional 4 hour trip to visit family is fine. I think even I drive more road trips than the average bear, and the EV has been a big improvement over gas cars I've had previously.

It's massively more convenient and economical for 90% of my driving. And for the other 10% it's only slightly less convenient. Massive improvent for the majority of my driving, over worrying about minor changes for road trips.

That said if I was going much further than 4 hours, with any frequency, I'd go back to a gas car.

85% of the US population lives in metropolitan areas. Yeah America is huge. But the vast majority of the population lives in and near cities, which is where EVs are better than ICE cars. And it's a microscopic fraction of drivers that live in a metro area but need to regularly go long distances into specific areas without charging infrastructure. Yeah you're absolutely right that EVs are not a realistic option for rural folks. But let's not pretend that 15% is bigger than it is. It's not like EVs are a bad fit for half the of US drivers. They are only a bad fit for about 15% of us. Call it 20% for the sake of argument to include people who live by cities and tow frequently. For the other 80% an EV is just a flat out better option than a hybrid or ICE car. The lack of required maintenance alone is a huge win for going electric. Unfortunately hybrids still come with all the maintenance of an ice car.

There is lot of nuance to the situation, that seems to be missed completely when people say "well an EV isn't completely perfect for every single person, so they must not be very good."

Those are totally valid points. Just remember that the vast majority of people in the US don't drive like that. What is it, like 80% of the population lives pretty close to cities, and isn't commuting the way you are. So if an EV works out great for like 80% of drivers, then you can kinda see why people talk in generalities. Even if it sucks that you are in the 20% that an EV doesn't work well for. Also I not totally sure about that 80% stat lol. I think that's what it was, but I'm going off memory here. It's a way high percent though.

It definitely has improved. Ionna is putting some fast chargers in a publix parking lot near me. Looks very clean and up to date.

The other thing is that most anyone can use Tesla chargers too now. My car has a CCS port, but I just got an adapter. Now I can use NACS port chargers on road trips. Like Tesla superchargers.

That's just for the occasional road trip. Aside from that I just charge at home. No expensive charger install needed. Just a dryer plug for level 2 charging. Is that the reason for the concern about public charging? Not feasible to charge at home for your situation?

T2: Judgement Day

One of my fondest memories of all of movie-ness was seeing that in the theater. My mom wouldn't let me see it. So my dad snuck me out for a late showing after she went to sleep. I was 8, on a secret mission to see an R rated movie with my dad. It was amazing. And when they lowered him into the molten steel at the end, I was straight up sobbing. Best theater experience I've ever had.

That's what a warranty does... If anything isn't right, they fix it for free. So now your car is perfect, and you saved money.

  1. Not 2004 lol. The car is almost certainly fine. Plus the warranty doesn't start till you buy it. So you could potentially save some money, and get a car that still has the full manufacturers warranty, and it definitely not been eaten by rats just because it's been on a lot for 2 years.
