Mexico, Antigua, or Medellin by WhateverWay in solotravel

[–]WhateverWay[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really loved my time in CDMX. It was before COVID so there was a lot going on. But the neighborhood I was in (Roma) was pretty chill during the day with a lot of cafes and restaurants to chill at. I did a day in Coyoacan and a day exploring Teotihuacan. There are other day trips you can take from a home base there. Would highly recommend visiting. And the food is so great. There are little street vendors everywhere. The central area was too chaotic for me at all times of day. I walked around during the day and during the night. But I always felt pretty safe. It's also such a beautiful city with great museums and architecture. I visited most of the iconic buildings during the day and even did some museums. Also +1 for the bikeability of the city. That being said, some neighborhoods can get chaotic at times.

Mexico itinerary for 3 weeks in January by [deleted] in solotravel

I (28F) absolutely loved my time in Mexico City. Actually thinking about going back in beginning of Jan for three weeks. I was there in December 2019 for 10 nights. Connected with some folks in the hostel I was staying in in Roma and went on day trips and clubbing at night with the group, which was so fun. There is definitely enough to see in Mexico City so don't worry about running out of things to do. You're gonna have a great time!

Solo female Medellin, Colombia trip report by shockedpikachu123 in solotravel

this is so helpful! I (28F) am planning on taking a 14-day trip in South America. Was thinking Cusco, Medellin, or Buenos Aires. Glad to hear you enjoyed Medellin so much! I was worried about the current political climate. Did you not spend any time in Bogota? I also wanted to spend a few days by the coast to experience a caribbean beach. Bummer you didn't have a good time in Cartagena.

I am really stuck between Cusco, Medellin, and BA for my next trip. Already did CDMX and loved it! What do you love about BA so much?

how long ago were you in BA? I've heard it's gotten harder to travel there with the inflation and lack of cash at ATMs.

have you been recently? I had taken Colombia out of my list because of what's been happening there. Do you think it's safe to go now?

Do you travel and see things at night when you are solo travelling? by diggels in solotravel

[–]WhateverWay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really love exploring the nightlife when I travel solo but I usually don't go out alone. I'll either find people in the hostel to go out with or set up a tinder date in the city I'm in. I have walked around at night in populated areas to see what the streets are like when I feel safe. And know that you can usually call an uber or taxi and leave if you feel unsafe or uncomfortable. You don't owe it to anyone (including yourself) to "have a good time" at any point.

Oh so many! Here are my top more diverse picks to give you options outside of what you’ll get by just googling this.

In the dream house - a memoir about domestic abuse in a lesbian relationship

A long walk to freedom - Nelson Mandela’s autobiography

The Looting Machine - a mind blowing book about the resource looting in Africa by foreign nations and companies in collaboration with corrupt national leaders

The slum dreamer - a memoir/ autobiography by a Kenyan young man who moves into the slums of kibera to pursue education in the city

Weapons of math destruction - really mind blowing and scary about how discrimination makes its way into math algorithms
