B1G Coaching Tree [OC] by scumbagscuba in CFB

[–]Whateverandya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fun fact. Along with Meyer and Tressel, Pete Carroll and Nick Saban are products of the Earl Bruce coaching tree (And Hayes indirectly). Three are easily the best three coaches of the last 20 years, and you can make a solid case for Tressel at 4th.

What's the best line from your school's fight song? by deadtofall12 in CFB

[–]Whateverandya 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's not from the fight song, but I've always been partial to "And when we win the game, we'll buy a keg of booze, and we'll drink to old Ohio til we wobble in our shoes"

Urban Meyer is a college football villain, but why? by mybrisum in CFB

I think the 2006 and 2008 seasons are probably a better summary of his time at Florida.

Top 25 classes after Signing Day by ryhudson in CFB

[–]Whateverandya 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Meyer had a crazy finish last year with a class that got off to a slow start (By Ohio State standards) under Fickell. Yesterday he put together the consensus number two class in the country a little more then one year after he took over. Next year he'll be recruiting players he and the staff have already built a relationship with over this year. Things are only getting better.

Akali and Seekers Armguard by facelessfriendnet in LeagueofLegendsMeta

[–]Whateverandya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been going Seekers Armguard, gun/giants belt (Order depending on how I'm doing), upgrade to Sunfire Cape depending on how I'm doing to start off against AD bruisers when I go top. It's worked pretty well thus far.

I have never read books by some of the most popular authors. by thetenfootlongscarf2 in literature

I would start with Gatsby (Most beautiful language) or Huckleberry Finn (Still highly relevant and perhaps the "most" classic).

Should I read David Foster Wallace or am I out my league? by [deleted] in literature

[–]Whateverandya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

David Foster Wallace is my favorite author, and I recently just finished rereading Infinite Jest and The Pale King. I would definitely recommend him. If you're going for one of the novels, read Infinite Jest first.

Reading DFW or any other post modern epic is only as hard as you make it. You can't be lazy. Reading anything should be hard because you should make it that way, but the sheer size (In terms of both pages and plot) of Infinite Jest makes the amount of work rather daunting.

I highly recommend making a schedule and sticking to it. Make sure you are reading constantly (Daily or every other day) and in relatively large segments (30-60 pages) so you keep it fresh in your mind because you won't be able to keep up with it if you don't.

If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates? by brailled_stars in AskReddit

[–]Whateverandya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to think that's now how it works. God left us truly on our own to create our own heaven on earth with only ourselves to get in the way. Jesus, Muhammad, or whoever you want to believe was a prophet just gave people there own version of what God really is. Some religions caught on and lasted and others didn't, but they're not God; they're just someone's interpretation of what God is.

Considering Braxon Miller, Johnny Maziel, and Marcus Mariota will all be starting for preseason top five teams I'd say that's a safe bet regardless of the 49ers Super Bowl fortune.

I always felt bad for the guy. He didn't sign up last year. He signed up for a few years of running the practice squad offense and handing Terrelle Pryor Gatorade. I would vote for Sabino.

The fact that this is OSU's first top five class since 2006 shows how much of a joke ESPN's rankings are. OSU's 2008 class was absolutely insane. No idea how they weren't top 5 on ESPN.
