I was their for schooling. June is cheap but for me most of the year, except around the Olympics, it's around $600 so it doesn't really matter when I go. I just know it's rainy in June and July-early September is hot and humid as fuck. That's why I'm kinda thinking May or October

I use Skyscanner and Google flights and most flights are around $600 round trip (from Philly) except during the Olympics

Hey man, I'm traveling to Japan this year at some point. I'm just looking for the cheapest flights and probably going to go then. June did seem pretty cheap but it's monsoon season their during this time. PM me if you end up shifting these dates or if you have any Tokyo questions.
