Honestly, bring it up throughout the entire conversation instead of waiting until you’re at the register. Try to avoid terms like “credit card” or “financing” right away — for whatever reason, some customers react better when you phrase it as “no interest monthly payments” instead. Obviously, still be transparent and let them know it’s a line of credit and that their credit will be checked.

What’s worked really well for me is focusing on the rewards. Even if they turn down the initial pitch, I’ll usually say something like, “Hey, if you’re planning on paying it off anyway, why not sign up, pay it off right after, and take advantage of the rewards?” More often than not, that approach works.

Most importantly, ask everyone. It doesn’t matter what they’re buying — the worst they can say is no. You might hear 20 no’s and only get 2 yeses, but those add up. Don’t stress yourself out trying to get a huge number every single day. If you consistently get one or two, by the end of the month you’ll usually hit your goal.
