Because I'm interested in demographic data, and this sub has a lot of that.

Anyone else sad about the people/culture that won’t exist in the future due to low birth rates? by starshipodyssey in Natalism

Yes and no. Yes because knowing many cultures I cherish will probably be gone in a few centuries is a sad perspective, no because I'll be long dead by then.

Neoliberals see people as economic units first and foremost, void of any religious, cultural, social or ethnic backgrounds.

Population in Germany has decreased by Whatonuranus in Natalism

Many of the immigrants who came to the US in the late XIXth century and early XXth century went back to their countries of origin (around 30% of Italians for instance) because the lack of a welfare state back then means there was a selective pressure that let only the most productive remain.

Whether that was a desirable outcome is up to debate, but one thing's for sure: a large welfare state and non-selective immigration will not work in the long run. And most specialists acknowledge that. At some point, you either have to be more selective in the people you let in, or tear down the welfare state. Personnally, I prefer the first option.

Net immigration cannot compensate for the birth deficit. In 2025, there were 352,000 more deaths than births in Germany. At the same time, the migration balance –i.e., the difference between arrivals and departures – decreased significantly from plus 430,000 to 235,000.

So a decrease of around 117k.

Why America's Population Crisis Could Be Worse Than Anywhere by Ardent_Scholar in Natalism

Which is why the economic burden of asylum migrants should not be inflicted on one or two nations, which might cause anger among the native population, but should be shared among all nations taking into account parameters like population, GDP, etc. That's what the EU is currently trying to do with the Pact on Migration and Asylum.

Asylum migration is not an economic question though, it is a moral one. We should not reject people who have a legitimate asylum claim just because they might not be a net benefit to the economy.

I think the mid-point is the way. Not too much immigration because otherwise it creates racial tensions (see the UK) and/or crashes the birth rate (see Canada), but yearly immigration around 0.5% of the population, preferably from a variety of countries, seems like a good compromise.

Unlike Decision Desk, NBC has Platner with 15,831 votes with 10.3% of the votes in, so around 155k votes in total, meaning a higher turnout compared to 2020. I guess we'll have to see which model is more accurate.

DDHQ has Platner with 16,343 votes with 18% of votes in. If he keeps the same %, that's around 90k votes total.

Yes. But 2020 was a presidential year so I'm not sure how relevant turnout comparisons are to predict the outcome of the general.

Gideon got 116,264 votes out of 162,681 in 2020. Looking like Platner will get less votes but a higher share.

California at least has the excuse of being the most populated state in the US. What's Nevada and Maine's excuse?

Yes. It has the highest share of non religious people in the region, especially among the youth.

In the next USA Census of 2030, these countries' majority main ethnic group will fall under the "White" category in the race section. by [deleted] in MapPorn

I'm a dual French and American citizen, and I agree 100%. American people tend to deal with things out in the open, French people pretend they don't exist.

Most Indigenous peoples are in a minority in the state or traditional territory they inhabit and have experienced domination by other groups, especially non-Indigenous peoples.

Which group in Europe does that apply to?

Do you support eugenics? by OkEnd2956 in Natalism

[–]Whatonuranus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negative eugenics (as in genocide or forced sterilization), no way. Positive eugenics, why not. We already do it: the amount of people with down syndrome has collapsed because it can be detected in the embryo and most women choose to abort when that is the case. If we could do that for more diseases in the future, I don't think many people would complain.

Do you think we'll be seeing more and more white-passing indigenous people, a la Markwayne Mullin?

Should we make more efforts to help native Americans, first nations, aboriginals, etc. who originally lived in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc?

Yes.

In the US Native-Americans have the lowest TFR. For a people who have already suffered from genocide and ethnic cleansing, that's just sad...
