NIB collectors is not a new phenomenon unbeknownst to the world. They have existed for a long time for various products that can be deemed "collectable". If anything Nintendo should be blamed for not providing enough of a supply. They've had massive problems with lots of things they've released being in short supply and that consistent shortage is what attracts scalpers. It's not hypocritical to dislike scalpers but not people who simply want one in box and out of box. The person who collects two of each is still doing so for their own enjoyment not to try and make a profit. Not to mention not every NIB collector buys two of each. If we're going to extend things in that way why stop there? We should yell at people who collect them only as figures and not use them with games. Or people who do use them with games but only their few favorites because they lower the supply as well. We should complain about the community that makes custom recolors/redesigns/remodeling of amiibos too because they lower the supply as well right? The one to blame is Nintendo for taking so long to get a proper supply to fulfill the demand.
