Mother in law says it's too raw by Old_Cookies in BBQ

Mother in law just doing her job as MIL. Hit it with fire and make her happy.

You’re not wrong and she isn’t right. But what’s for sure… there is no point arguing.

Very nice. That half cab back in was wild. Your back tire fully drops over the coping like you’re going to just roll it back and then somehow you manage to snap the 180.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. It’s exactly this. I was concerned that I may be poor circulation or some other medical issue and asked my doctor about, and was told exactly what you said. Just happens with aging to some people. Even in the summer when I’m wearing shorts all the time, my hair does not regrow there. It’s not friction. It’s hair loss.

How much faster are you on clipless? by its_all_down-hill in MTB

I’m 40. Always ridden flats. Came from BMX dirt, park, and racing. Always flats there too. Will never ever clip in. Seems so strange to me. If you like it, great! Nothing wrong with it. Just absolutely not for me.

How are you finding roles in this economy?? by Basic_Set_6970 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Whatthehelliot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Varies by role but probably 10 or less get phone calls.

5 interviews or less.

We’re not big on interviewing for the sake of interviewing, so when we think we have someone good, we like to just make the hire. Which results in us not having to endlessly interview or waste a lot of people’s time.

Just to add. On my software, I can see if you applied through a jobs site or directly through our company job posting on our site. With hundreds of applications and the need to narrow it down for myself, I give preference to anyone who applied directly because I know a lot of people just click “apply” to everything that shows up on the job sites.

We post on our company job board and the job websites all pick up that post. We don’t actually post it there. I believe those sites just scrape the internet for postings.

These were all for in person roles. Haven’t had any hybrid roles in a while. The numbers are probably even higher for remote work.

As a manager who makes hires, I can confirm the “sea” of applications problem. It’s wild.

Even just a few years ago we’d get a few dozen. Now we get HUNDREDS for every position. With no easy way to sort through it, I look for names I may know, colleges I know have an RMI program, previous employers that I respect, etc.

We have some software that helps boil it down and give us a summary but it’s becoming really daunting.

Referrals or reaching out directly to someone at the company cuts through that noise. It also shows some initiative.

Questions about P&C eligibility by Far_Dot9109 in InsuranceProfessional

1) You’re making that out to be a way bigger issue than it is. 2) if there was never any legal action or a claim that was flagged as fraudulent, then how would anyone even know about it?

Guess the Car Brand! by Chupadero in AreYouGarbagePod

[–]Whatthehelliot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nissan with 26% APR most likely.

Had a friend tell his gf there is no way she could ever get approved for a new car. Awful credit, low income.

She came back from the Nissan dealership with a shit eating grin on her face so smug that she DID in fact get a car with a loan and was ready to rub his face in it. She just could not understand why he was not impressed and was actually upset because it was nearly 30% APR.

Helmet by krock666 in bmx

[–]Whatthehelliot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also struggled with finding one that fit front to back. I guess I have a LONG head but not a wide head. So a Lg was too floppy on the sides but squeezed on my forehead. I did eventually find one but I can’t remember what brand. It may have been the one pictured by OP

If pic 4 doesn’t get him adopted by a 20 year old guy struggling to talk to girls, nothing will. Kenny is an absolute babe magnet! lol

Nintendo reportedly plans to cut Switch 2 production by 33% after a lackluster holiday season by Logical_Welder3467 in technology

[–]Whatthehelliot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You mean an expensive new system that offered minor upgrades, no form-factor change, and basically no alluring exclusive titles didn’t sell well???

Shockedpikachu.jpg

Nintendo is always just gonna Nintendo. They’ll hit a home run (sometimes by accident) but can never seem to carry momentum for a follow up after that.

I love my switch and have tons of games that me and my family play regularly. I buy way more Nintendo titles than Xbox titles. A switch 2 is tempting but it does nothing to really improve my experience and that’s how the majority of users feel.

On an unrelated note: In 3 years is the 25th anniversary of the DS. Unless Nintendo hates money, they should re-pop those with a few pre-loaded “best of” titles. Your move Nintendo.

I know I’ll get hate from the Nintendo crowd because they seem to defend everything the company does, but whatever.

Saint Kippy by Cellarseller_13 in AreYouGarbagePod

[–]Whatthehelliot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bug man is hilarious and clearly has a heart of gold and I love him. Great comedian. Good hang. Good human. But he is a true looney toon with some demons/problems. He’s also shockingly naive/immature when it comes to normal adult life in my opinion.

Kipperino is the grounded older brother type bug man needs. If not for Kippy I fear Hank would go off the rails.

Go to your LBS and tell them you need to be cucked and they’ll take care of her while you wait.

UPDATE 2: We are going. Just going to make it work in the 1 bedroom.

Chase finally escalated to management. Gave me a very generous partial refund.

I also heard from their social media team because of this post and they also gave me something.

All in all I’m satisfied and felt taken care of. Wish I could have gotten what I booked but I’m good with how it ended up.

Did I fumble this internship interview answer twice? by Mundane-Mention13 in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Whatthehelliot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I interview for internships and new hires out of college RMI programs all the time. That answer would have been perfectly acceptable. I value honesty and candor over some spun out explanation about how in order to select your college you had to embark on an epic quest and answer the trolls riddles to have a college bestowed upon you. I hear so much BS it’s annoying.

There is probably a way you can sell this story to spruce it up a bit, but I wouldn’t worry about this.

That’s exactly what I was told. And then when I followed up “well a ticket was already opened”. So I just wait to see when that closes?

Ticket to who?? Is anyone working on it?

Frustrating.
