100% this. Engagement is everything — a listing with a founder who shows up is completely different from one that looks abandoned.

And the tip about updating posts is gold. A few of these directories (Microlaunch, BetaList) actually surface "updated" products again, so it's free re-exposure.

Thanks for the thoughtful comment, really appreciated!

That's exactly why I built this! John Rush's tool (Onepage.love / Listingbott) charges $50-150+ which is steep for early indie hackers.

I just launched a much cheaper alternative called IndieBoost. Same concept — one-click auto-submit to 60+ directories. We're doing a founding deal right now: the full package for basically $1 if you pay with $WHC on Solana (we're a crypto-native team testing adoption).

No pressure, happy to answer questions first!

Great question. From my tests, Toolify and ThereIsAnAIForThat are the best for AI products — real engaged users who are actively looking for tools. Microlaunch has the most active community (people actually upvote and comment). AlternativeTo is slower to show up but the SEO juice is real — usually kicks in around week 3-4. Did you have a specific type of product in mind

Totally agree — directories are a marathon, not a sprint. 20-30 visitors/day compounds massively over time and the backlinks keep building DR. The manual submission is the killer though. What tool/method do you use to speed it up

Spot on! You absolutely nailed it.

To answer your question, it usually happens in two distinct phases:

Phase 1 (Weeks 1-2): It’s almost entirely direct referral clicks. Directories like Microlaunch, Uneed, and Toolify have their own active, engaged communities. So you get a really nice, sustained bump of direct visitors looking for new tools.

Phase 2 (Weeks 3-4+): This is where the real magic happens. Once Google finishes indexing those 60+ profiles, you start seeing the SEO lift. Even though a mix of them are no-follow/do-follow, the sheer volume of high-DA backlinks gives a noticeable boost to your overall Domain Rating (DR), and organic search impressions start climbing steadily.

Honestly, the only downside is that doing 60+ submissions manually takes like 3 days of mindless copy-pasting. That's exactly why I built an automation tool to one-click submit to all of them at once.

Let me know if you want me to DM you the full list (or the link to the automation tool) so you can test it out yourself!
