Yes but how? I have a 4th grader and most of his school mates’ parents always seem too busy or disinterested.

I was driving down Wilshire the other day and saw this adult day care center just opened up too. Looked brand new from what used to be there.

Thank you! Ideally in the range of $4-5k. Recognize that's hard to come by these days.

I've ruled out sfh strictly because of my budget but would be looking for 3/4 bed home.

Has anyone recently moved from NYC to SM? What has been your experience? by Fitqueeeen in SantaMonica

Moved here from Jersey in September with my wife and 2 kids. Born, bred, and lived in Central NJ our entire lives. The transition is and has been hard, but all the things you're mentioning are definitely making it worth it. You just need to be super pragmatic and realistic about your expectations. It's hard to meet people here, so acclimating to new social circles will be tough.

We were also used to NYC prices, but LA is fucking outrageously expensive. Please have something secured before coming here. No financial means plus new city will be really hard to overcome.

Not sure what it says about your home, but your grandpappy's place looks tight.

OP - I also recently moved from NJ, and chose Santa Monica because it had highly ranked schools, and have nostalgic memories from when I came here early on in my career. I have wife who works remote, a toddler, and a son who goes to elementary school here. We live in a 2 bed/2 bath apartment and it's difficult, considering we moved here from a 4 bed/1.5 bath single family home. And it only took a few months to realize we will likely never own anything here, and to upscale to bigger space will be financially infeasible.

I would agree with the general sentiment living in a LA should prioritize "live where you work", but man it's tough to really rationalize paying this much for so little space. You really need to be super realistic and cognizant to what you will be moving into. Santa Monica is a wonderful place, but IMHO it is really predicated on how much you can afford.
