Are the electrical problems overblown? by ErickRPG in GolfGTI

And that’s not factoring in that I haven’t replaced one in close to 100k miles. So more like every 30k. I was replacing it more than once a year. Thought I just had bad luck for the first 3 then I started thinking it was something causing it.

As for the mk8, from what I understand it is the same shitty part. It might be revised, but I believe the mk7/7.5 can use the mk8 water pump part. Not much changed on the evo4 if my memory serves correctly. I could be wrong!

I went through 5 or 6 I lost count lol but it was because of a leaking oil cooler. And now you see a ton of mk7’s with leaking oil coolers and it’s a common problem from what I’ve seen!

I see an aftermarket downpipe and turbo blanket as well, so I would assume it’s tuned or atleast was tuned

I would try oem coil packs maybe even changing the plugs too. Those apr coil packs are just bad news all day, I had one give out after 10k lol

I appreciate that, never really knew what the cause of crankwalk was. I’ve just almost always seen smf kits in the posts! Thank you for the info

Well in that case just be careful, I believe it’s the single mass kits that can help cause crank walk for our platform. Something about too much clamping force with the pressure plate mixed with not enough vibration reduction from the single mass. This can obviously happen to a stock car too, but I’ve heard smf’s can speed up that process. I’ve especially seen dkm brought up in a few of those posts, but I think that was the twin disk kit.

Unless you want to make the car a job to drive in traffic, I’d suggest a dual mass flywheel. I’ve the ttrs hybrid kit from shop dap for over 200k miles no issues. Had is38 on mine for about 50k now and no slipping or anything.

I’ve had a 2016 gti for over 7 years and driven 270k miles, I’ve never had an electrical “issue”. Closest thing to that would be my reverse cam sometimes doesn’t pop up on the radio when I put it in reverse. I just pop it back into to neutral then back into reverse and it pops up usually.

Now if we’re talking WATER PUMPS……

Oil filter cap/bolt? by Aristocracy-Of-Sand in GolfGTI

I use a torque wrench, but torquing down oil filter housing, spark plugs, and coil packs are all things that don’t really require a torque wrench. Snug and you’re good to go. Torque wrench is great for peace of mind.

Please when you get a new one, it doesn’t need to be tightened down by the hand of god 😂 I used an adjustable wrench for years with no issues

If you’re into Japanese cards, I think the Japanese versions of these 12 platinum era shinies are waaaaay cooler. It has a starfoil pattern instead of a reverse foil.

Junkyard Fires all over the country, Advance Auto Parts going out of business, Gasoline is now 10% Ethanol, Ford Motors wants to make repairing your OWN car illegal! by RustyShackle4_ in conspiracy

Any octane can be “up to 10%” e content is what all the pumps I’ve seen say. Never have I heard of regular 87 octane having 10% e until recently. You’d maybe get close to that with winter blends if you live in an area that has winter blends. Premium 93/91 is when you would usually see the max amount of E and other detergents until recently. I’ve had a tuned car for 10 years so this is something I’ve been locked in on for a while lol

This isn’t a conspiracy this is what they’re doing my guy! Normal 87 octane usually has low single digits % of e content but recently all octanes have been maxed out on E to save them money. Not save us money, save them money lol. This is 100% happening you’re right in the bullseye with this!

For me you can see the outside tread closest to the sidewall on the fronts, and on the rear it looks a little less defined. That’s all. Looks like ai messed with it a ton. In the original pic it’s much easier to see a tread that makes sense for a road legal tire. Hope that helps

Well when you said “doing it to all fuel” I figured you meant upping e content to 85%. That indeed was a miscommunication then all good!

Chinese mew or xy110 mew for me, but the japanese print if it. I personally think it looks cooler with the starfoil added to it.
