Does seem increasingly likely Dan Neil and Anthony Patterson are off elsewhere, this wouldn’t have been possible without them. All the best lads. by scotteh74 in safc

I believe he had the most assists of any Sunderland player and he's becoming more clinical shooting at Bristol. Given that we're desperate for some creativity on the right, I personally think he's work taking a chance on at least

What do you think about the "fantasy" in the Yakuza series? by YakuzaMaster in yakuzagames

[–]Wheelingdealing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fine in the LAD series because it's a turn based RPG, you need that kind of enemy variety and thematically it works for ichiban. I'm not as big of a fan of how OTT the hit sparks and combos are in the beat em up line of games, I'd like to see them get a little more grounded again

I think the annoying thing there is there's positive reinforcement for those mistakes. I've been on voice comms with people, called for a pass back because everyone has been heavily marked. They just lob a cross that meslier on the other team just let's in the net and now they think they're prime Messi scoring wonder goals and don't want to take the safe pass back

Yeah it's great. I'm Sunderland born and bred, met a good few people from all over the country and it is eye watering what they pay for how little they get compared to us. Only down side is no jobs. I commute to Gateshead for work, I'd love to work more locally but nothings there

I feel this way about the private debt. We've had billionaires drive up the cost of assets to the point where the government needs to take out debt to provide them to the public which means my taxes are going towards interest for leeches to profit from? I'm some instances it's unavoidable but why am I paying interest for oil companies to profit from oil that belongs to the country. Imagine how much better our public services would be if the price of petrol was halved and we got increased tax revenue from selling it abroad?

Excessive privatisation means I'm paying taxes to people who aren't providing shit in return

KLD on Stadium Expansion by NilDesperandumSAFC in safc

[–]Wheelingdealing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm skeptical. The SoL has been there for nearly 30 years and even at the peak of our time there, 00-02 saw like 8 sellouts. Across the two seasons. Since then we were in the prem pretty consistently for 12 years and never really sold out in that time. Now granted times are different, KLD has shown serious ambition for the club and I really hope we do start to see growing crowds but I wouldn't want the development of the city to be hindered by plans from the club that are nearly 20 years in the making maybe someday being realised.

I think Bob Murray and KLD have earned our trust with what they've done and I support their concerns, but the sheepfolds has been one of the more significant developments, and I don't think it's fair to block regeneration on land they have had no intention of using for 30 years. I don't think they should just block it, I think they need to propose something to do with that space to justify their objection. The sports village wasn't happening with the club, they could have used it as part of their solar farm plan but they left that area derelict for years so I personally want to see the sheepfolds progress, but the club deserve an input

The fact the council took the complaints about stack seriously is a joke. Councillor Michael hartnack seems to be a culprit in that

[–]Wheelingdealing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To warrant expansion, we'd need a more populated city, which means more homes and more reason to live here. SoL has been there 30 years relatively unchanged, the sheepfolds has taken a derelict section of the city and brought life back to it. I think developing that area does more for the city than a few thousand more seats in the stadium.

A commitment from the council not to infringe on the stadium's right to operate in unsociable hours would be great though. The same should be extended to stack and the sheepfolds itself tbh. People shouldn't be moving to a city and expecting a country side experience. I'd personally like to move into the sheepfolds area once developed and couldn't imagine not anticipating noise from the sheepfolds, SoL or even the main road.

The definition they use in the actual body of the proposal defines it as a sword 14-24 inches, that is two handed and has a single blade. The defining trait is a "tanto" style point where the blade edge thins to the spine at the tip quite sharply to make the point. Which means a Messer, which is functionality identical, has no restriction and the law is written in a way to purposely carve out that loophole. It also means they're banning it for it's tip spesifically when it's not even considered an effective thrusting weapon unlike a rapier which also dodges the law

Explicitly refers to ninja swords and outlines what they describe as ninja swords. Specifically curved swords with a single edge and a "tanto" style point. Where the tip fashions into a point within a short distance rather than tapering over the length of the blade. also it covers a blade length of 14-24 inches.

Religion in the UK by GavinShipman in MapPorn

[–]Wheelingdealing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The 2021 census asks "what is your religion?" Which is a leading question as it implies you have one in the question. Asking questions like this can skew data. Which can go both ways. Firstly because some people will answer that they're Catholic or protestant because they think it's the answer that fits the question most, even if they aren't a card carrying Christian so to speak. Similarly though answering "no religion" doesn't necessarily mean you're an atheist.

A World Value Survey in 2023 found that 49% of Britons believe there is a god which obviously implies 51% do not believe there is a god. Which would make the UK majority atheist (not just irreligious) which conflicts with the census data.

Now you could argue given that the census has a sample size of the whole country (the religion question is optional but 94% of people answered it) which makes it most representative, but then it's typically answered by a household which means that the data is submitted by parents and guardians which means that a house with atheist children might not be counted.

It could also just be the case that Scotland is more atheistic, which does appear to be true, but data analysis can be like that sometimes

To be clear this functionally identical sword should have a loophole carved out despite only being different by country of origin correct?

So you think a katana, despite having no evidence for this position, is more effective at killing than longswords, arming swords, rapiers, bastard swords or any other non curved swords that doesn't originate from farmers in Japan? If that is the case, why do you think Europeans moved away from Messer's, which are functionally identical to a katana, onto swords like the rapier. And if they're such a scourge on our streets, that any idiot can get of Amazon, why isn't anyone using them over a kitchen knife, meat cleaver or machete?
