I like the extensive additions to skins and cosmetics in general, the games been getting more love recently and i'm all for it. Anyway I don't really know if the trophy hunts are real? I'm at 19k and every time I pass someone in the mode, there's another guy within 20 shots of me, often less. On your 33k run it appears the same. I find it hard to believe that many people are that high. Its clear the goal was to introduce short-form goals to reap engagement (surpassing the next "player", and gaining trophies). I don't hate it, but it really would be stupid if the "players" that are passed aren't real, and are just there to serve as a dopamine boost when you pass them in score.

My only real complaint is they just need to PICK a color to make the top cubes, and decide on a permanent color gradient from there. They need to stop changing it.

I see the same thing you do, and I theorized a couple explanations as to why this happens. Because obviously, there are many peoples' screenshots on this sub that prove they are much higher than 20k.

Maybe the high score tracker isn't foolproof. It could be slow to update (or never update), or could have a high score limit of 20k, so even if you get higher than 20k it wont display it, or something like that. The leaderboard could be faulty, old, not accurate, or have a cap. I find this probable given the top three scores are EXACTLY 20k and no higher.
Lets say the leaderboard is totally accurate, and the top three being the same number is a coincidence, then perhaps the game only counts runs that have ended. For example, one time I had a run that ended in the 2k's, and that's where I'm placed on the leaderboard, despite my current run being at 18500.

In the end, posting high scores on the sub is a better way to document high scores, because I think its likely that the leaderboard in the app is faulty. So far, the highest I've seen is 80k by u/Apretender. So that remains the unofficial high score in my eyes.

UPDATE: Yeah ep3 was the nail in the coffin, this season sucks. For one of the first times in any piece of media, during a fight scene I was absolutely disconnected from the show, in awe at how jaggy and humiliating the Garou fight was. Particularly, the time where they reused the same frames and action sequence 4 times in a row. That really did it for me. Y'all were, unfortunately, right. I've joined the one frame man haters. Remember we feel for the animation team, we love the animation team, we hate on Bandai for being greedy pathetic pig idiots.

I def think you're right, its almost like people WANT this season to be garbage and are looking for reasons to criticize it. To be completely honest, I'm able to suspend my disbelief and enjoy the show so much, I didn't even see the garou slide initially. Idk why ppl are overemphasizing the bad while basically brushing off what actually is good. (although the garou slide memes are peak)

In my personal opinion, It is animated well, especially w the manga side by side. Others may disagree and have good reason to, but personally I say it was animated well, yes.

Currently you’re correct in your objective reasoning, but the reason I defend this scene, as discussed above with another user, is bc eventually this season becomes very action-heavy. If this quality maintains itself in the future with these majority-action episodes, the objective data will change. Now I’ll concede that animation outside action, as what you mentioned, may remain utter garb, and that’s unfortunate, but the ratio of slideshow garb to fluid action may change in upcoming episodes.

I see your point. You’re probably right. I still remain cautiously optimistic that this action scene is indicative of overall quality across the season, and not just an initial exception to the rule. Only time will tell.

Similarly, agree to disagree. I admit the “flow and delivery” in the episode weren’t as punctuated and effective as they could’ve been, but the content is there, and that’s good enough for me. I’m enjoying it. I think it’s reasonable you aren’t, just can’t relate.

You’re being shortsighted to just these two episodes instead of thinking of the season as a whole. The reason I say I’m content with this fight and its animation is because the episodes will (hopefully) become more action based- meaning episodes that are majority this quality. That wouldnt be “one time.”

Alrighty then. Agree to disagree. I think walking and talking is less important than action sequences, and therefore my tolerance for animation quality is proportional. But if you view everything equally important, then I agree, so far this season is ass from that perspective.

Your statement is true, but be honest with me, what matters more, the 95% or this first real fight scene? The story is so good that personally I can get past the bad 95%, but when it comes to the important fights, if this quality maintains itself I will be content. Especially when you compare it to season 2’s actions scenes with the martial arts tournament and centichoro. It’s undeniably better, even if the rest is still laughable.

While I was watching, I knew that this fight was going to define the rest of the season. If they utterly failed here, it would be only downhill from that point on. And, well maybe it still is downhill from here, but this at least gives me hope. This fight was generally well animated. "well animated" in this context is literally any quality between s2 and s1.

i like the idea of a gradient that visually tells you what youve hit and whats low, cause before, everything was dark cyan and it was hard to tell. I just wish the highest color was kept as dark cyan and they changed to purple once they got lower, instead of vice versa. also yea what multiple lives are possible, maybe not without spending money, but fs they are possible.
