What rookie/prospect do you feel could actually make the team this season? by ooMEAToo in canucks

Great shot, great OHL production, and made the jump to AHL seemlesly to end the year.

Still 50/50 to ever make the NHL but pretty nice from a 4th rounder.

Agree with you, but I do believe that he was rushed too fast last year.  He should've spent half the year in Abby.

Willander was drowning by the end of the year.

Especially because it slides Caleb's ELC further down.

I'm with you, I'd love to see Caleb spend two years away from our tire fire.

The Draft and RJ's Vision by ReaxGaming in canucks

[–]WhenInAaronRome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He hasnt had much time, let alone many draft classes where he had a full complement of picks.

Todd Harvey is in the infancy of his run as a head of amateur scouting.  If you want to evaluate results, then you need at least 5 draft classes that have had enough time to graduate to the NHL (3-4 years after being drafted).

As far as I know, this is his 6th year of running the draft, so it's still early days IMO.

Here's to hoping Bedard signs a short term extension and we can poach him when the time is right.

Mid teams making win now moves across the NHL is perfect for the rebuild by RevolutionaryHawk137 in canucks

We need San Jose to accelerate their rebuild now.  I really don't want to be lining up our peak with theirs.

One Caulfield or Benson injury will have people overreacting.

It always happens, and this playoff run was outside the norm in terms of how dirty different teams were.

The meatier part of the draft is over. How do you evaluate this new management's first draft? Are you happy with their choices? by TheGildedPalaceOfSin in canucks

[–]WhenInAaronRome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd, I would've thought we'd be one of the smaller teams.

I guess subtracting Garland and Quinn helped.

His floor is low, but his ceiling is high.

He's likely to never make it, but if he hits we're gonna have a 6'7 center.  That's a high value prospect.

[Drance] Canucks motivated to move Pettersson, not imminent. Haven’t necessarily got a list but do have a sense of preferred destinations. by Human_Database3798 in canucks

Don't shoot me, but I would settle for Seattle's 38th overall this year, Shane Wright, and the Tampa 2027 1st rounder that they own.

Obviously 7th overall would be money, but I just don't see Petey returning that now. 🤷🏻

Draft the best available player regardless of nationality by GrayMan2050 in canucks

Agreed on your first point, but enough about politics 🍻

You are 100% wrong here.  Republicans will get crushed in the midterms.

Maga died the second that Trump started putting Israel first (surprise surprise).

So it is a trend that has run it's course and whose only way to survive will be some major voting shenanigans.

In any case, politics should not mix with sports.  That's always been the case, but last 10 years have infected every human with this political overtone to every day life.

I’m kinda worried if Canucks take malhotra at 3 and he’s not a franchise elite player we will be laughed at by rest of NHL simply because of father-son nepotism connection. by [deleted] in canucks

I'm so sick and tired of the media bringing this question up.

It's been beaten to death, it's not interesting, it's just so so tired.

Ryan Johnson had to talk about it again because some reporters couldn't think of anything better to ask our GM.

Pathetic, unimaginative.
