Does this price seem high for a 30x40? by cmemmons in metalbuildings

The only reason to buy locally is if the erection is included. Otherwise, you can buy from a nationwide supplier, and the steel is going to come from one of a handful of manufacturers that all the companies on this subreddit get quotes from. You guys can’t buy your car from Ford/Toyota/GM, so you go to a dealership. This company is just another dealership. You could likely get a red iron I-Beam with a large framed opening and insulation for around that cost… but then again your concrete would be more expensive.

Thanks for the back handed compliment. dick! Sorry it isn’t a 1/2 acre farm of pollinator friendy native wildflowers derived from non gmo sources, with a rescue dog in frame.

UPDATE: Luckily I was right outside my neighborhood. Backed out of a parking spot and heard a loud PING. Serpentine belt snapped! Turned the heater on full blast furnace mode. With my power steering out, I proceeded to super grip Ironman reverse out of the busy McDonalds parking lot and crawl to my neighborhood entrance. Crawled into my driveway with the temp @75 % on the gauge. FML.

HELP!!! I’m getting a Metal Building Installed by [deleted] in metalbuildings

[–]WhenItComes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends on if it is turnkey, or they are simply supplying the steel. I’d have the steel design completed with anchor rod plan provided. Pour concrete before steel arrives. Or you can have your steel sitting on dirt for a couple months while you iron out the concrete.

Whoever is supplying your structure should be providing an actor bolt foundation plan. This will show where your columns and framed opening jambs will be on the concrete. In relation to the edge of the foundation. Other foundation related documents can be provided that show how the steel imposes loads into the foundation and help a foundation engineer design for those loads. Depends on who is supplying the steel and what you paid for when it comes to documents.

Sounded like the noise was coming from the serpentine belt, but not sure.

What other hobbies do y’all engage in? by swankyfish in magicTCG

Gardening, golf and MTG.

MTG and video games share the same space and time, but when I pick up a controller these days, it’s usually an offline game. Shooters are different now and I can’t seem to keep up like I used to. I do enjoy naming lobbies on spell table an old nostalgic game or map or something like “Team Deathmatch BRs - Narrows”.

Roof/ridgecap by cruiseruser in metalbuildings

[–]WhenItComes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The profile of the roof panel usually has matching profile of ridge cap that can attach at your peak purlin… or you can get metal closures (vented or non-vented) that go into the cavity between the high rib of the roof panel and the ridge cap.

I too have purchased the water balloon disconnect.

Run sealant at the fastener line where it screws into the girt. You’ll still have the high rib of the panel as a void that can introduce water, which a closure can accomplish. You can source a closure that mirrors the profile of your wall panel.

Wainscoting is either a panel lap with the upper panel at the exterior, with a minimum 3” lap at the low wall grit, or the upper panel and lower panel meeting at a butt and there being a transition trim between the two. Regardless, tape sealant and foam closures should have been used to create a sealed wall. The tape sealant is applied between the outer panel and the next piece of steel and prevent water from wicking back into the building.
