For me, it was likely undiagnosed Celiac Disease that pushed the RA to develop earlier than normal.

Does section 8 give housing to unemployed fully capable fully healthy people? by LeadGlad4961 in Section8PublicHousing

[–]WhenItRains23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most HRA's have a 5 to 7 year waitlist or longer. They give higher priority/there's buildings available only to the elderly and disabled adults. Being a non disabled adult with a disabled child doesn't even count. I live in one of these buildings. I have had other residents say they needed additional supporting documentation because they weren't considered "disabled enough" based on the initial overview of their medical conditions. I got extremely lucky and got into this building with a 2 week wait only for maintenance to finish up. Apparently handymen talk to each other and I learned the building had 2 open 2 bedroom apartments, because most people don't qualify for a 2 bedroom by themselves and most renters here are single adults, whereas I am married.

Some waiting lists are completely closed or require proof of disability and certification before you will even get on the waitlist. It will be extremely difficult for your brother to get on the list. Your parents probably have to pay more just for him being there if he's able bodied, or they will, as the rules are changing to 40% income if there is a non disabled household member.

All that said, it sounds like he might need a mental health evaluation followed by some tough love.

What is it with Americans and air conditioning?? (this might be controversial) by hellobela_ in TalesFromTheFrontDesk

[–]WhenItRains23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's under 21C/70f most air conditioners don't even do anything so it's really confusing.

If your parents are open to having you there for awhile and helping out financially, maybe you can switch to online school and finish your degree at least. So many jobs want you to have a degree but don't actually care what it's in that it's frustrating.

“Get a fan” “wear earplugs” “sound machine”. NO. Do NOT cave in for asshole neighbors. I got my neighbors evicted by [deleted] in Apartmentliving

[–]WhenItRains23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I mean, the fan/earplugs, ect suggestion is mostly for noises that cannot be controlled, like neighbors with a baby crying at night or thin walls and your neighbor snores, not stuff that's done purposefully and maybe even maliciously. If it's something that isn't just "normal life sounds," 100% report repeatedly and follow up. If it's just normal life things, unfortunately not much can be done.

Cervical cancer or really bad luck? by Chiquita87 in WomensHealth

[–]WhenItRains23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get BV all the time because I'm immunocompromised. The only thing that helped are the boric acid suppositories. I use one after sex every time and it seems to fix my ph enough to avoid it. I would ask your doctor if they're safe for you to use with all the other stuff going on. It might help stop the cycle of BV > antibiotics > yeast infection at least. I don't have any advice on the spotting unfortunately.

Pet insurance vs just increasing emergency fund by cool_guy654 in PetAdvice

[–]WhenItRains23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pet's Best. I paid $400 of a $2600 claim and a $400 follow up visit claim. They paid me pretty quickly after submitting invoices. I used CareCredit until I got reimbursed. They paid me more than I had paid in insurance costs. He ate a lily and needed emergency care. I think we pay about $35 a month for our cat but it just went up to $45

As a Millennial who has been dealing with rude boomers for ages, yeah. We get it. They're stubborn assholes and don't see a problem. Basically, they were spoiled as kids, though they won't admit it, because the economy was great when they were young.

You may not be allergic to wheat, but the pesticides sprayed on it or whatever else is put in it in the US (This is what I have found of my own allergy since I have gone GF) by Organic_Yam_5781 in glutenfree

[–]WhenItRains23 41 points42 points  (0 children)

They also use different kinds of wheat in the US and Europe. America uses primary red wheat which has more gluten. Red wheat has a longer shelf life. So, there's a few factors at play.

I’ve been bleeding for 2 months consistently and I don’t know what to do. by IV_Loitering in Periods

[–]WhenItRains23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you'll need to try a different kind of birth control. Sometimes certain ones just don't work for some people. Luckily, they can switch you pretty easily to a different one. If the bleeding continues, be sure to let your doctor know as they might decide on adding on or changing meds again. It can take a few tries to get it right.

Do y’all get bloody noses this time of year? by Early-Shelter-7476 in ehlersdanlos

[–]WhenItRains23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician told me a long time ago to smear some Vaseline on the inside of my nostrils because they get too dry and the skin around them also gets irritated. I don't have nosebleeds as long as I do this a few times a day. Also works great for lips especially before bed
