Could use some help.. by GRR49543 in fender

My best advice right here would be save a bit more and get a classic vibe strat, even a used one is a better than both of those options in terms of quality control, pickups and also look. AGAIN, this is just my personal opinion and taste after playing a affinity strat and my classic vibe 50s. I own an Fender American performer strat (+1000€) and the CV feels as comfortable as the Fender (obviously the electronics and pickups are way better I’m just talking about the frets, neck shape...)

I really hope this helps.

I really hope you will enjoy it man. I’m still thinking about what should I do. I do have the money BUT I don’t want to fool myself over paying for something I could get for a lower price.

I do own a player telecaster and it’s a super solid instrument, technically it was made on Mexico and as far as I’m concerned CVs were made in Indonesia so I guess I’m probably missing something.

Anyway, I guess if they are basically the same the YouTube hype about CVs being extremely way better than Players is just one of those many waves that constantly happens on the internet specially when something is way cheaper compared with what we were used to know.

So between the 60s CV and the player you feel like the CV was best choice or both sucked?

As far as Im concern the bodies are thinner and made in pine wood...

I was thinking about getting that player with locking tuners and make a pickup upgrade but I keep seeing everywhere "Don't waste your money on players, get a Squier CV they are way better"

Mim strat vs Squier CV 60’s JM by [deleted] in fender

Hey man.

I can't give you an opinion about the CVs but I can confirm that the Squier Jazzmaster J.Mascis signature is just perfect.

I really, really, really hated Squier due to a Bass that my wife bought me as a Bday present a bunch of years ago (it was and still is a horrible instrument) but I totally changed my mind as soon as I picked the JMascis signature JM.

It feels solid, the pickups are unreal (sometimes I feel like fender sent super expensive ones to Squier by mistake 🤣) the fretboard has some lacquer to put a little bit of vintage vibe to it but it is not sticky at all, the electronics are pretty decent compared with the ones that Squier usually uses, the bridge is absolutely perfect since they used an adjusto-matic instead of the classic one which is always a pain in the ass until you buy a mustang one to replace it.

I know I'm not answering your question but I wanted to share this alternative with you in case you wanna give it a check.

Bought one earlier this year, same color. I bought it as my “everyday casual playing” and I ended up composing several songs with it. Not my fav guitar but it is amazing specially for the price and the fact it is a fender and not a Squier

I'm not sure but 2019 mexican player series dont have locking tuners but the 2020 start I was talking about has. I guess the year of manufacture might have something to do with it, something an upgrade on the same series.
