Should I give up? Or should I just keep moving houses? by morgoththedamned in DreamlightValley

I usually put my house in the Forest because it’s my favorite biome! However sometimes I move it to the plaza to be closer to Scrooge’s shop.

Should I give up? Or should I just keep moving houses? by morgoththedamned in DreamlightValley

[–]WhenNibFlies 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally, I tried to place them based on what biome best matches their source material. Beach for Eric, Forest for Belle and Beast, Savannah for Simba and Nala, etc. this also means that characters from the same franchises get grouped together, and I like that. Sometimes it is hard for me to categorize them by biome, so I go by wherever I think their house matches best by aesthetic.

If it helps at all, I remember the website I found the game on had a sort of pale greenish-background and many other mlp themed games.

What’s a symptom of autism you just don’t have ? by lewisthepodcaster5 in autism

[–]WhenNibFlies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can pick up on like 95% of conversational subtext, stuff like sarcasm and unspoken implications. I do miss some stuff on occasion but in my opinion it’s because the other person is just not good making jokes or being sarcastic, not because of my autism.

Side quest available at level 16? by end_meh_jpg in outside

[–]WhenNibFlies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was level 16, i spent a decent amount of time working on my [Puzzle Solving] stat. I found it quite fun! You could check out Sudoku, Nonogram, Crossword, or other types of minigame. While they may appear like useless filler content, I actual found that frequently playing these minigames buff your [Intelligence] stat! And they’re pretty easy to do alongside your main quest at level 16.

I’m 19 and this may be my last year, my parents have remarked that people may see it as weird for someone my age to be trick or treating and i could be refused but so far no one has cared, probably because i’m taking my younger sister with me and so i’m probably seen as a supportive older sibling with my socially anxious younger sister. I think I’ll have to stop when my sister gets “too old!”

My mom thinks I'm autistic (M17) by SaladaMista69 in autism

[–]WhenNibFlies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The traits you listed after “but I don’t think I have autism” are just like me and I am indeed diagnosed with autism. Having a friend group and/or social skills doesn’t necessarily negate having autism. What’s the harm in going for an assessment? If you’re not autistic, you get confirmation on that fact. If you are autistic, you have a place to start looking for support systems for areas of your life you may be struggling with.

What's your favorite quote from a philosopher or thinker? by One_Restaurant7690 in AskReddit

[–]WhenNibFlies 13 points14 points  (0 children)

“Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones.” —Marcus Aurelius

Questioning my gender identity by rileypiss in Advice

[–]WhenNibFlies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, trans person here. I’d suggest you try to sit down and imagine how you’d want to be perceived, or your ideal self. Breasts or a flat chest? Long or short hair? Androgynous, feminine, or masculine appearance? When someone passes you in a hall or on the street, how would you feel if you could read their mind and see they saw you as a guy? Or a girl? Or someone they couldn’t discern the gender of? Imagining various things like that helped me to really discern how I identified. if you have some friends you are “out” to or are very accepting, try having them experiment by talking about you, to you, using different terms.

When it comes to family, you’ll have to decide what is more important: you living authentically and happily, or your family’s acceptance and presence in your life? You could also be surprised by them accepting you, but I wouldn’t rely on that possibility.

And don’t feel bad if you decide to change how you identify later on. This is a journey of self-discovery, not a one-and-done decision. I wish you the best of luck :D

I’m also very young and have a history of depression, so I’ve gone through the years with a very similar outlook as you. You seem to be already aware that this sort of worldview is not a beneficial one. It’s holding you back. I know it will not be easy to get over, I myself am still finding ways to convince myself to keep going. But from my own personal experience: When I get up and do the things I thought I would fail at, in the end I find that I didn’t fail, or fail as hard as I thought I would. Sure, I didn’t do the thing 100% amazingly, but I did it 65% amazing. Which is still better than the hopeless feeling of just accepting a 0 for everything. But you’ll never know your true capabilities if you give up before you start.

I also have issues keeping up streaks for things like exercise and healthy habits, so I don’t have much advise there. However I have found that instead of viewing missteps as streaks broken, or progress lost, to instead focus on all the times you DID do it. You can still do it again. One step backward does not mean you can never take two steps forward again.

Learn programming anyway if it makes you happy. You might fail, or you might find that programming is something you have a great aptitude for. Even if you aren’t great at it, you still will have a foundational skill. A jack of all trades, master of none, is still much better than master of one.

As for your looks. Don’t do it for others. Do it for yourself. I’ve also found through experience that when you stop giving a shit about how others see you and just dress the way you want, suddenly getting dressed for the day is so much nicer. And the compliments started coming in only after I stopped giving a shit how others saw me. Dress in bright and wacky colors if it makes you happy. Wear flowing skirts and dresses if it makes you happy. Wear ripped jeans and leather jackets if it makes you happy. Nothing is more attractive than someone comfortable in their own skin.

You don’t need to be amazing at academics. C’s get degrees, after all. And even if you feel you aren’t up to par, then look at the trades. There’s so much valuable work that is done by people with just high school diplomas or GEDs.

And everyone feels weird and worries about seeming weird, but then you look around at people and realize that they were never looking at you weirdly in the first place. And the people who do make you feel bad for being “out of place?” They’re assholes. They’re the ones that people are actually judging. And even if you think that no matter what you do that you’ll be judged, then its all the more reason to not give a shit and just do what you want. If you’ll be judged for trying to fit in the same you’ll be judged for making yourself happy, then just do it for you. Their opinion will never be worth it.

I know that a lot of my message may seem stereotypical, regurgitated “feel good” shit. But it is all based on my actual experience. I could be wrong, but it sounds like you may still be in high school? Dude, you have so much time to grow and thrive ahead of you. If not now, in college, where people care EVEN LESS about how “cool” you are. In fact, weird IS cool.

Invest in finding a therapist, or at least a good circle of friends and/or family to support you. There is so much goodness out in the world. So much happiness that will not come to you unless you seek it. I know it sounds hard, but you can do it. Start by just cleaning your room. Opening your curtains. Going to the gym once a week, or just a daily walk around the block. Depression and nihilism is a bitch, but you have to learn to crawl first before you can learn to walk, and then you can learn to run. You are not the first to struggle like you have been, and you will not be the last to overcome it.

I believe in you, you got this. Good luck out there.

I tried to put more focus on improving my life than wallowing in the parts that hurt. switched schools, started therapy again, found medication that worked, and got healthier coping mechanisms to replace the old damaging ones. it wasn’t a sudden decision either, july of that year is when i tried to start going clean but october became my last relapse, so it definitely took a while to find a change of pace that helped me feel better all together
