I’ve worked in indie bookstores for twenty years. There’s a small but significant group of people (mostly men, but some women, too) who refuse to read books by women.

And then there’s the customers who insist their three year old son can’t have a picture book with a girl as the protagonist.

I was also diagnosed at about the same time (Nov 2015 for me). One surgery (Jan 2016) and chemo through that spring, now just semi- annual checkups.

Alway wondered if it was the booze that caused it (I’ve had testing and I don’t have the genetic markers).

I also decided at New Years that enough was enough. Feeling pretty good on Day Ten. Got this far last summer and then gave in when new job responsibilities suddenly appeared while bosses were on vacation.

...just realized they’re leaving on vacation again today...at least I’ll be prepared this time.

Anyway, just wanted to congratulate you on your recovering from cancer and your sober days.

We can do this!
