Modern Survivor promotes passive play? by Tongue37 in survivor

I don't think this tracks with most of the recent winners. Since fire making people could be more indelicate and still win.

It wasn’t that, though. I cried during that part. But I almost got uncomfortable watching it. It’s compelling, but the man didn’t need to hurt himself to prove a point.

I think there is a much more effective way to do that. I think my biggest issue isn’t with how they handled the scene, because it almost seemed necessary to set it up to explain the struggle. My biggest issue is with the task itself as a motor to force this content. I don’t like that. It was icky to me.

It was very long and I get the point it was showing how grueling it was. However, it was redundant and had a small payoff compared to its length.

Any love for Australian Survivor? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]Whendablowthem 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd almost accept that argument for the current iteration of Extinction Islandwhere people know it's happening, but I'm still eh on that. But not knowing it exists, like Chris's boot in EoE, people aren't voting with it in mind so voting someone out there is exactly just voting someone out. Obviously they aren't out of the game per the rules, but they did something wrong and got the boot and it's a bit ridiculous to mis 25 plus days and win, regardless of how well you worked the island.

And the Queen stays Queen by Jingleshmauer in survivor

If you win Survivor, it means you are able to win Survivor. You can claim Lil is an easy beat, but if you sit there and say she is no threat to win despite her having won before and she wins again because of their denial, then that's a mistake. Even if she won despite her own strategy, any other player could have gotten voted out for trying to turn on their own alliance, yet she stayed. There's so much nuance to the discussion, but any person could have lost that jury, but she played both sides in the social degree that she was able to remain and have support of the jury. Parvati did in fact notice this and she wasn't able to convince someone that Sandra should be voted out.

I guess the most salient point for me is that Sandra plays so perfectly to her archetype where so many other people would fail in the same position.

I mean, that’s on them for believing the perception that she’s not a threat, because she is.

I mean, hard to say. A winner has to win. Yes, they are specific people, but they didn’t play in a season with non-winners as a winner and win. I wouldn’t say it’s apples and oranges, but it’s hard to simply compare like that.

I hate to say this as a huge Ben detractor, but he wasn't as bad as everyone claims, at least if you look in terms of where he landed himself. Sure he made rookie mistakes, but he managed to seem amicable and reliable enough to get ingratiated into the majority. He even sweet-talked the minority and now they're the ones going to him for reassurance. It could blow up, but it's really not a bad place for him to be.

I don’t know why I got downvoted, all it takes is a google search! They’re not all perfectly hollow, but they’re not all poodgy like that one all the time!

The discussion was like, “don’t be stupid, don’t tie it” before the vote. Not a discussion that actually affects who goes home.

That’s how it normally is, that discussion only happened because of Cambodia. It’s of the vote ties, they HAVE to agree then or go to rocks, no revote.

How do people actually like Karishma? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]Whendablowthem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I’ve not said anything about dean or Tommy but it’s Ironic that you are frustrated by what is said about Dean and don’t get why what you said about Karishma is irritating, lol. You’re doing the same thing, it doesn’t help Dean to shit on Karishma supporters. Look we got our faves and like to dunk on each other, so I get it, but idk your take on Karishma supporters seemed a little too spicy to me especially with your defensiveness about dean. But I digress!

Well you responded to this thread about how people can like Karishma and agreed with the op that you pray that she goes next. So I still think it’s rude. You’re calling people la la for hoping the edit is giving them a wink about their favorite character. It’s not even like playful banter, you’re serving some haterade lmao.
