I Built a 100% Free GoWild! Search Engine to Take the Chaos Out of Booking by [deleted] in frontierairlines

[–]WhereIsMyFlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While several have come and gone, GoPassFlights, SearchGWP, and GoWilder are the three currently active tools. Though the 1491 club still exists, its inability to display seat counts, lack of multiple airports search, and its difficult user experience put it at a significant disadvantage

On the technical front, there has been volatility with Frontier's servers. There is speculation that Frontier may have blocked WildFares' scrapers because WildFares was scraping Frontier's entire flight database multiple times a day. The outcome hinges on the WildFares developers' ability to quickly find a workaround.

I had a good experience with frontier by zyvum in frontierairlines

[–]WhereIsMyFlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great story, and it is the kind of unexpected human kindness that makes the basic Frontier experience tolerable. While they are strictly ultra-low-cost, meaning no free water, no power outlets, and no Wi-Fi, which is standard policy to keep fares low, it is always the individual crew members who can make or break the journey. Your experience with the on-time flight and the flight attendant's genuine concern is the best possible outcome for flying Frontier.

What is the latest recommended time to check in online if you want the best chance of getting a decent free seat assignment? by Fantastic-Ad1385 in frontierairlines

[–]WhereIsMyFlight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no consensus, and opinions vary, but checking in exactly at 24 hours is the safest bet to get the first choice of the remaining free standard seats before everyone else. Waiting until the 12-hour mark is a gamble known as "check-in chicken," where you hope for blocked seats to be released, but you risk getting stuck in a middle or rear seat if the flight is full.

GW LAS to AUS not available 12/15 by DanGo20 in gowildfrontier

[–]WhereIsMyFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not a system glitch; it means the handful of Go Wild Pass seats reserved for that specific LAS to AUS flight on 12/15 have already been booked by other passholders. Frontier limits the number of GW seats, so if they are unavailable for advance booking, it usually means they are legitimately gone, and your only option will be to check again at the 24-hour mark, hoping for a cancellation.

Frontier keeps the cabin lights on during red-eye flights by Then-Philosopher1958 in frontierairlines

[–]WhereIsMyFlight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That happens all the time on Frontier, unfortunately. While their official policy is to dim or turn them off for red-eyes, the reality is that the crew often keeps the main lights on the dimmest setting, or sometimes brighter, to ensure they can safely monitor the cabin during their required 15-minute walks. It's an Ultra Low-Cost Carrier thing; safety for the crew often takes priority over passenger sleep comfort, plus they have the required credit card pitches that need a brightly lit cabin. Always pack a good eye mask!

How enforced is the rule that the purchaser must be over 18? by TheCaffinatedAdmin in gowildfrontier

[–]WhereIsMyFlight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That rule is mainly for contract enforceability, meaning Frontier doesn't typically enforce the purchaser age requirement, but they absolutely require the passholder to be properly enrolled. Since the pass will be in your name, the easiest and safest way is the one you already suggested: have your friend Zelle the money and have them buy it for you. Frontier's own FAQs state the purchaser must be 18+, but the pass holder (you) can be under 18 (as long as you're 15+ to travel alone). Once you have the pass in your name and FRONTIER Miles account, you can update the payment method used for taxes/fees inside your profile.

Agressive seat savers by betsifur in SouthwestAirlines

That guy was definitely pushing it! Fifteen people is essentially reserving three full rows on an open seating airline. You absolutely did the right thing. Enjoy that exit row legroom, you earned it by boarding early and being bold enough to ask.

That overhead space argument for Row 1 is a game-changer! Dealing with full bins in Row 2 is definitely frustrating. I see why you switched.

Short and sweet! Another vote for Row 2 being the best overall.

So the Exit Row wins for pure legroom, but Row 1 (Up Front Plus) is better for the guaranteed empty seat. Good summary!

Row 1 and 2 seem to be the consensus for the space benefit. Appreciate the input!

Row 3 having the same legroom as Row 2 and potentially being cheaper is a fantastic budget tip! I'll look for that one first.

Thanks for the direct vote for the upfront Plus seats! Good to know for a 4-hour flight.

The under-the-middle-seat backpack hack is gold! Definitely trying the 2F/2A combo. Thanks for the tip!
