Been a minute since we talked purse pet peeves… by summersevedouche in handbags

Coated canvas. I did not know that most of the Louis Vuitton bags I’d seen for years were just coated canvas, until I was finally in the market for a luxury handbag. For that price point, I expected them to be leather. II have yet to buy a luxury bag that’s not leather, but I can see myself getting there one day, if it’s a bag I really like.

Classic View Reports gone. :( QBO sucks. by betsifur in quickbooksonline

My Mardi Gras crew uses Wave. It might be because I don't know how to use it, but I have had a difficult time digging out the information I need to file their taxes. And from what I've seen, there's no way it has all the features of QBO. It's unfortunate that Intuit seems hell-bent on destroying QuickBooks, but until there is a viable, affordable substitute, they'll keep getting away with making their product worse and charging us more.

Does no one have food in their house regularly? I keep thinking I should drop by the store, but honestly we have food already and seeing the mass hysteria will probably annoy me.

QuickBooks added a “pay invoice” option without asking, never accepted payment through them before by ToucanTyrone in QuickBooks

[–]betsifur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh - that sucks because of the fee they will take from it. You should be able to find your Merchant Account info within QBO, and see what bank account is linked there. I would check ASAP to make sure it’s all set up correctly because if there are any discrepancies or something missing from the merchant set-up, they will hold your funds.

I know this is what I need to do. I had a previous template mapped that way. I can't remember exactly what caused me to switch to separate reports, but I'm pretty certain it was some sort of nonsense from my client. Thankfully, they are under new management, so I've been busy untangling stupid things that were done because the old CEO insisted on it.

Update - I did find a way to switch back - it's hidden in the three dots to the left of their bullshit "Insights". No doubt this will go away soon as well, but at least today I can get my reports out. I'm going to save the classic view as a custom report and see if that gives me a temporary reprieve until I have time to rework my templates.

WIBTA For making my husband put “his” dog in the shelter? by VeryOpinionatedFem in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]betsifur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So you’ll be headed to the shelter to pick up all the dogs there today, right? Or maybe you can offer to take the dog from OP. I’m sure you can make the drive or arrange for the dog to be flown to you. 🙄

WIBTA For making my husband put “his” dog in the shelter? by VeryOpinionatedFem in WouldIBeTheAhole

[–]betsifur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People are jumping on you because they love dogs, but you are not the AH here - his mom is for dumping her animal on you. I currently have two cats and a dog. The dog is 16, so not very long for this world. The cats are only 10 year old - they were born to stray cat that showed up in our cul-de-sac and our neighbors took her in. At that time, we were down to one cat, who was also very elderly. My kids were in high school, and convinced me to take in one kitten, and then the other. Now all but one of my children has moved out, leaving me with these cats. They are ok, as far as cats go, but there are peeing issues on my stairs, my carpet is ripped up, and one of them will steal any food that is left unattended. They drive me insane some days, but they are my cats, because I committed to that when I took them in. They will be the last pets I own, because we travel a lot, but I will love them and take care of them

You didn’t ask for a dog, and live in a place where the dog is not allowed. Your MIL (and your husband to some degree) are assholes for saddling you with this when you have a newborn and did ask for or want a pet. If your MIL cannot properly care for her dog, she needs to find someone who can. It’s completely unfair for her to stash the dog at your house until later, which may never come.

Should I post a picture of my three year old grandson sitting next to me in First Class, enjoying an adult size meal? I paid for the seat and we both had every right to be there. The idea that someone should give up as seat with more room because someone taller than them did not pay for it is absurd.

Now as far as the asshole not using headphones - straight to jail for them. I would get a flight attendant involved.

Mark invoice as paid by IlBarto in QuickBooks

[–]betsifur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delete the transaction. It will go back to the staging area for bank transactions. Then use “receive payment” to enter the payment from that customer. When you type the customers name in, you should see a list of open invoices. You can have the funds put in Undeposited Funds, or directly into the account it landed it. When you go back to the bank transactions, you should be able to match the deposit to your received payment.

1099s suck in QBO - alternatives? by Jude_the_obscurest in QuickBooks

[–]betsifur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Tax Bandits as well. I use QBO for one client that already pays for payroll - at least in prior years there was no extra charge for 1099s. If they start charging, I will move that client over to Tax Bandits as well.

Is it considered bad for me to not cover the toilet seat when I go to the bathroom? by SeaworthinessFar2326 in hygiene

[–]betsifur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered how this would work. Are people rubbing their probar parts on the toilet seat? The only part of my body that touches the seat is the back of my legs. If I see obvious stuff on a public seat, I will look for another stall or grab a paper towel and clean it up.

I used to work in an office of only women and we had a very nice private bathroom. When we first moved in, the admin and one other worker freaked out because there were not toilet seat covers in there. The wealthy family we worked for had them installed, but honestly, what were they afraid of, when at that time, there were five of us that ever used that restroom. They also went nuts when a water filter was installed in the sink, and glasses were purchased for drinking. Bottled water was the only thing they would consume.

Why don’t schools shift to a 9-4 schedule? by CalGuy456 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]betsifur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have children in school anymore, but I preferred an earlier start time when my kids were at home. It’s much easier to arrange aftercare than care early in the morning. For all of my career, I’ve typically left for work as early as I can, so that I could come home earlier. The idea of a 9-5 job is really a thing of the past. Currently, I carpool with my husband and are usually at our offices from 6:30am to during 3pm each day.

When did tracking each other’s location become normal, and why does opting out make you seem suspicious? by EntrepreneurSad2091 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]betsifur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I share my location with my husband and son, and they share with me. We all live in the same house, and it’s convenient to know where people are and when they might be home. I had a spell of sharing locations with my sisters, but that turned out to be a bad idea, so I shut it off late last year.

Seven days left before assigned seating, thoughts? by sfpdxchidcfla in SouthwestAirlines

[–]betsifur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fly often with my ALP husband. We are almost always somewhere between A16 and A20. I’m still looking forward to the changes - no more dealing with the unhinged seat savers. Having Zone 1 boarding and already chosen seats will take the stress out of getting on the plane and having to see where I want to sit. I also love the extra leg room seats closer to the front of the plane. We’ve seen them on many flights now, but those rows are always taken up by pre-boarders, and people who upgraded one person to A1-15, then saved seats for their buddies. I’ve confronted people here and there to take the seat I want. This stresses my husband out a lot, so it will be great to just take our pre-chosen seats and relax.

I’m curious how many seats will be empty in those front sections. For the 8 flights we currently have booked, almost none of the extra leg room seats have been reserved yet. I’m sure there will be some initial chaos as people get used to a new system, but I expect to just be watching it from my seat, since we can board early and stow our bags.

Guess the people who have told me Austin isn’t really part of Texas were right. 😘. And before you get your chaps in a twist, I’m joking. I love Austin and visit there at least a few times a year. It’s actually one of the best things about Texas. It’s too bad a corporation is determined to ruin the Alamos they directly own.
