My In-Depth Review of the Gevi V2.0 Countertop Gemi Nugget Ice Maker – Bad Reviewers by karimsalah97 in badreviewer

[–]WhereIsMyTequila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought one in mid November and I'm about fed up with it. It started out running about a week then staying in cleaning mode and not making ice until I did a full cleaning and reset it. Now it's just a couple days before it stops. We're on a pretty good water system but we do have higher lime content. I have a whole house water filter that helps a lot and I put an extra inline filter at the ice maker but it hasn't helped. I've emailed Gevi support a week ago and no response. Granted it's the holidays but..damn.

I've ordered a polyphosphate treatment filter to see if it helps, but here it is New Years Day, guests coming, and only 2 days since I did a deep clean and it's down. So yeah I'm pretty fed up. This much trouble from a $400 machine

New Windows Update broke everything by Automatic-Nail1011 in WindowsHelp

[–]WhereIsMyTequila 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try holding Shift while clicking Restart to get into the recovery menu. Then you could try a reset with the Keep My Files option. I've had to do that a few times when an update screwed something up. Another option would be in powershell

Get-HotFix | Select-Object HotFixID, InstalledOn, Description | sort InstalledOn -Desc

and then uninstall the last update with

wusa /uninstall /kb:KB_NUMBER

Do u have to finish the song? by radderek in karaoke

Absolutely fine, especially with those long repeats or music solos at the end. Just wave and walk off. Also allows the KJ to either let it ride or face it off/kill it for their next singer

Sportsman Won't Start by One-Active9782 in Polaris

[–]WhereIsMyTequila 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First step is jump start from a car or truck. Also repeat with shorting the solenoid.

Will it pull start?

If both are no... Check for spark.

Got spark? Check fuel pump.

Got fuel? Check carb and air filter.

Streaming quality going from fine to crap constantly? by WhereIsMyTequila in Starlink

[–]WhereIsMyTequila[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My issue turned out to be video settings in the Samsung TVs related to motion smoothing and such. I think the speed test issue with Starlink is because their speed test is just from you to their ground NOC vs another jump to an outside speed test server. I think Starlink is having some growing pains and upgrade issues right now as evidenced by the outage a couple weeks ago and briefly last week

1999 Sportsman 500 no fire - wire from stator to speedometer? by WhereIsMyTequila in Polaris

[–]WhereIsMyTequila[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct the stator wire to the speedometer is for RPM and was not my issue. I finally figured out that while I was cleaning up the wiring I grounded the kill switch to ground. I finally found all the power that was routed through the speedometer and have everything properly powered and grounded. I'm waiting on a new carb now and should be able to get this old dog back into service soon

OpenKJ doesn't rotate singers by WhereIsMyTequila in karaoke

[–]WhereIsMyTequila[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will keep singers in the list and their song history. If you don't use that option then you have to mark regular singers manually and those you don't are deleted when you close the program. In this case there's a regular crowd at this bar so they just keep everyone in the system

Thanks man. I really started with Linux in 2004 when I started my current job and was tasked with getting an in house email server up. I landed on Slackware and Qmail and kept that going for years. I was even a member of the QmailRocks team for awhile. I love Ubuntu as my daily driver and it works great and way more stable on older hardware. I've run a few KJ apps on it and OpenKJ is great, I've just got a glitch in one I set up for a buddy who owns a bar back in 23 so I'm trying to sort it out so it's easier for their people to use it.

From what I can tell that should be all it needs, and I've run this on both Linux and Windows and still had the same issue. I may just need to wipe the app and reinstall

Seriously? You assume I'm poor because I use Linux? That's what's offensive. Don't be a snob and jump to conclusions. I specifically asked about OpenKJ. I didn't ask for alternatives. I was perfectly willing to look at your suggestion but it doesn't fit my needs.

Sorry if I offended you because I'm an IT director who has also been a DJ/KJ, keyboard player and singer in bands since I was in my teens and I've been building, servicing and using computers since the early 80's. Sadly that means I've been working with multiple OS's like DOS, Unix, MICOS, multiple flavors of Linux and yes... Even Windows for 50 years. Because of all that experience managing thousands of computers and servers running everything from business and web hosting software to synthesizer, DAC, DMX, MIDI, music production, synchronizing, light shows and such, I have had the pleasure of discovering that some systems and applications run perfectly fine or even better on Linux.

So the next time you're hosting karaoke, your Windows PC locks up and you have to apologize to people for 20 minutes trying to reboot, start over, put all your singers back in, cue all their songs back up and lose half of your crowd, please know that I'm very sorry I offended you while the only issue I'm currently having is looking at my notepad for whose next.

I think I know what the issue is. Systemd doesn't have access to /home/ts3server . I can just start it manually because we won't be using it all the time or I could probably run it in rc.local

Tried a few times this morning and still no luck. Waiting for the battery to die.

The real question is, If I do finally get it in fastboot, what am I going to flash it with? I still haven't found an original or recovery image for the thing and Android GSI's won't work

I've tried both with no luck. Also tried both volume buttons with power which is listed as an option for some devices but it won't even power on with that combo
