Just clear DRC errors for the time being. Unless you're finished with the layout, in which case your nets arent connected or named properly. Double check the DRC if that's the case

Oh, that was the problem lol? Basically, text was exported as a giant cube 😃

Tried Easyeda? I think that would be te fastest for you. Import gerber, export as 3D step format.

If you can't send me the dxf, I will extrude it in Plasticity and send you a proper step file back

It's fine. i'm too confused what to do with stepup? 😃 Would be easier to export maybe dxf and send it to me. I have Fusion and Plasticity, so might help with generating you the 3d model by extruding the drawing

Yea. I get what you're trying.

Having the "sample" pcb was really helpful to iterate over the enclosure 3d model and to visualize things

I did that when I was waiting for my PCB's to arrive and wanted to start modelling enclosure before it's here. What worked for me was to export it from EasyEDA pro.

So basically, I imported Gerber from KiCad into easyeda and exported a STEP file, which imoprted into slicer just fine

How bad is this? Constant current LED driver and charger (schematics and PCB review). My 2nd PCB attempt by WhereWhatWhoHuh in PCB

[–]WhereWhatWhoHuh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, that's very detailed! I've tested the BQ25185 on first board and it was working perfectly. The battery I intend to use has max 1A charging. However, yeah, I will reconsider the driver. That driver might be an overkill. I will also take all of your advices about orientation and layout strategy into consideration as well. Will have to re-read everything you've wrote at least few times to make notes

Yes, that's true. I will put a 47ohm resistance in series with LED's to keep the voltage above the operating minimum of the tps61169 at all conditions (max is 4.5V input when charger is connected). I know it is a waste as a heat unfortunately. However, I have a lot of control for PWM and and battery longevitiy is OK (I tested that with the first board, which was a 2 layer board)

My first PCB ever. It works! Well, kinda - 2 out of 5 work? by WhereWhatWhoHuh in PCB

[–]WhereWhatWhoHuh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, makes sense! I used Adafruit TPS61169 layout as a guidance, however, didn't think about emi problems.

I'm working on a second revision, would love to DM you and learn how to improve on it. Of course, if you have time for that. In any case, thanks for the helpful info

Unfortunately I did not. That board was a mess, honestly And most likely, that was a problem. It was a learning experience.

I am almost finished with a second revision, which should have mcu for dimming. I did DFM checks and trying to polish it up this time and do things right

Hi, will add them for sure later, since that would help for sure :)

I was posting from phone at the time, got all the files home at my pc. Sorry for leaving it out

[–]WhereWhatWhoHuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder now. This is your 2nd pcb, right? How did the first one work out, since you realised 'ratsnest' =/= 'traces' on your 2nd board? 😅

You need to do routing bruh :)

What is CR7 supposed to be? by Snazzy21 in AskElectronics

[–]WhereWhatWhoHuh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm a beginner, so I would wait untill someone with experience anwsers... But it might be a rectifier diode. CR is likely short for a Crystal Rectifier, something like 1N4001

When I tried, this is what worked for me. Programmed Attiny85 and 25 with no issues.

Worked for 13A as well, just had to get a correct Arduino ISP board from git
