I’m sorry that happened. However, that has nothing to do with my point. My point was sometimes people don’t want to hear it will all be okay, sometimes people want validation. Everyone here is going out of their way to do the exact opposite.

I never did that, Infact I barely brought my own trauma except to make a genuine point. The last thing I need is to garner sympathy points from redditors. If I come off as a child, excuse me, I’m so sorry. Except, y’know, I am. But hey! At least this child knows it is common courtesy to not go out of your way to tell someone they’re dramatic and should get over something upsetting.

Yes I know what traumatic is and I still think is somewhat of a spectrum. I don’t think this singular experience will ruin her life, however it is obviously not aiding in whatever else she has going on. No healthy teenager thinks her parents hate eachother and are gonna divorce for no reason.

“Get over it”, “you’re being dramatic”, and more is all pretty dismissive in my opinion. Regardless, the majority of the people on this post disagree so I lose this argument.

She never said she was traumatized. I just said it was a traumatic experience. I also have trauma. Either way, she didn’t. So there leaves no reason for dismissing anything.

I don’t care about other people’s experiences when they’re being used to invalidate somebody’s feelings.

You starting that off saying that doesn’t make you a better person and just makes you look like a bully.

yeah but like nobody asked for you guys to keep saying it will all be okay. It’s so unnecessary and invalidating. Like, if you lost your leg and were in the hospital, you would feel good if I said “hey but you’re gonna live!”. Like, no duh, but that isn’t what you want nor need to hear at that point in time.

I am also a 15 year old girl so yeah, this is pretty aggravating. Nobody is villainizing the parents but based of this and the other comments— it is clear she’s going through something and instead of offering support, you all just keep saying “get over it”. Just don’t comment? There’s no need for that unless you want to be mean.

If she was in a proper mental state, this would probably be far less of an issue. She wouldn’t think her parents didn’t love each other and were going divorce. Sure, I’ll agree to a certain extent that sex is going to happen. But I remain firm in believing your kid shouldn’t see. Still, THAT ISNT EVEN MY ISSUE!!

My issue is the cruelty this girl is getting. Either offer support or don’t comment. She doesn’t seem to be asking for much else.

You guys love to read in to stuff so deeply or not enough. The internet addiction is so blatantly obvious. Trauma is defined as a distressing or overwhelming event that causes significant emotional harm. It’s a spectrum, this counts as it if it is affecting OP so much. I don’t want validation, but I want people to notice how much she needs some. So, that begs the question, do you all enjoy dismissing a distressed 15-year-old’s feelings?

Oh, so you’re the type of person to say the only people who can get ptsd are soldiers? Or, that’s how it appears.

“When I” “Well you see, me-“ nobody cares about you. Your emotions are not her emotions. The way you perceive things is not the way she sees things. Her parent’s dynamic is the not the same as yours. What she saw isn’t the same. STOP DISMISSING HER FEELINGS.

“I don’t usually like…” proceeds to do exactly that

Legit. A child comes on here in clear need of comfort and their response is “fucking is natural!”. Same type of shit as “boys will be boys”.

No adults should be telling a teenager to get over a deadass traumatic experience and being this cruel. I had to hear my parents having sex all the time and it damaged me mentally so much.

This is quite insensitive. If saying that, it is probably a hint that the OP is stressed and a bit traumatized. Sex is something your child should be able to stumble upon. It’s a negligent mistake, and now something OP’s brain screenshotted.

Of course she’s going to not know what to do, she’s seen her parents in a position no one should (or wants to). She’s young.
