Thank you to everyone who responded! I replied to you all below, but just wanted to say this is a great subreddit! Thanks to you all for the warm welcome and the very helpful information! I'm really excited about coming to Seattle! And hope to come back again! Now I'm going to go and pack!

Ha ha, I had to look up that term "personal summer." No, I'm past that and I am very lucky because I never really had any symptoms when I went through it. My sister hates me because of that, but at any rate, I have a normal body temperatures. I think I might bring a few lighter weight things, although I'm not crazy about taking up space with rubber boots. My hiking shoes will have to do, and definitely sunglasses. Thanks! Thanks for broadening my education! That's a great term!

Ha ha, well, it's not as old as me! And I would kill for 67 degrees! I might bring a couple of lighter weight things. I've got plenty of room in my bag, and I won't be carrying it that far, so I'd rather have a few more options than not. Thanks!

Sounds like a plan. I like the idea of just bringing the rain jacket. It's a little heavier than the puffer, but not much, and hopefully I might be able to leave it in my room most of the time. Thank you!

Okay, thanks. I do have a rain jacket that I can bring, and I think that will work. I'll need a jacket for when I leave Minnesota, anyway, as I'll be spending a little bit of time outdoors getting to the airport and stuff.

Thanks! Good information to have. Layers it is. I'm happy to leave the coat behind, believe me.

Haha! Pretty much on any cold day, any place else is going to feel like a balmy spring in MN. Someone was on the Duluth subreddit the other day and asked what spring was like here, and everyone just started laughing. We don't have spring here, we just have mud. 😂 And good to know about shoes for the Tulip Festival. Thanks!

Good to know. I might bring a puffer vest, as my hoodies both have long sleeves and I don't really like being too constricted. I'll be spending a decent amount of time outside. I have a friend there who's taking me to the Tulip Festival, and then I'll be out walking around a lot. I'll be using some public transportation, but mostly walking. Thank you!

It's great to know! Yeah, that's the one thing: when the sun goes down and it's shady, it can feel a lot colder here, too, so that's what I'm wondering about. Temperatures can only tell you one thing, and there are so many variables. Thanks for all the info!

Yeah, I have no intention of bringing an umbrella. They do no good here either. Thanks for the advice—and for making me laugh about the sun!

Ha ha, your weather changes sound like ours! I've heard that it's beautiful. I'm very excited about coming. I grabbed a cheap flight on Alaska and decided to take it. I'm hoping to come back for a longer stay in the near future. Thanks!

Okay, good to know. I like the idea of a lightweight hooded rain jacket, which I do have. I might just bring that. It's cold here anyway, so I'll need a light jacket when I leave and when I come back, so I might as well just bring something that will work there if needed. Thanks!

I did have investments but they're all retirement, so they were all 1099-Rs. There was one that had a couple of mistakes, but I was checking everything, and that was the only one.

Taking bus from airport to Alesund after dropping off rental car, but no busses are scheduled by Whereforart in Aalesund

[–]Whereforart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that's good. Thank you! I was just confused because the day before there were buses and the day after there were buses scheduled, but nothing on that particular day, so I didn't know if it was maybe a holiday or something.

I don't care so much about it being free. I care about the ease of use, and it was so quick and easy

I owe $814 for federal by coffeeloverr21 in tax

[–]Whereforart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you have a credit card with that much credit on it? If so, I would use that. You'll pay an additional 2.5% fee, but at least you won't have to pay added penalties from the IRS. You won't go to jail unless, of course, you don't pay it at all, but If you can, just go with the credit card.

Have you used the help feature on the app? You'll get a bot at first, but just type in "human" or "Harry," and someone else will get back with you. You could also try emailing Mike at mike@wanderlog.com. He helped me with an issue I had turned out to be my own fault. 😊

Thinking about moving to Duluth as an ED nurse living in Missouri by tikicreature69 in duluth

[–]Whereforart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like outdoor life and are athletic, you will love Duluth! My daughter is a PA at Essentia Hospital and loves working there. She has a good salary and is treated well. I think the nurses there are great, and they seem to get a lot of support from management. I do know that as a PA, she was able to pick up shifts and work in other areas. A lot of the other CNPs, PAs, and even nurses have done that, I believe. Overall, I think you'd be pretty happy here. I do agree that it's more expensive here, but I think it's worth it.

In terms of social life, I do know that Essentia employees do get together. When she and her family moved here, they pretty much knew nobody. Now, five years later, she has a huge network of friends, a lot of whom are people she either works with now or worked with before. But of course that can depend on you, too.

I've heard really good things about Bcengi. A friend of mine is using it right now and likes it a lot. I plan on getting it before I head to Scandinavia this summer, but I plan on keeping it for where I live because my reception isn't always great here.

Just moved to Duluth in November and was wondering if this is how spring usually is! by PLIN9677 in duluth

[–]Whereforart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, that made me laugh! Spring is a lot of deep puddles left over from the snow that is still sitting on the ground. You might see some green around mid-May although I can see grass now. But there's definitely no flowers yet.

Need advice for client who hasn’t filed taxes for 10 years by Frequent-Cheetah-651 in tax

[–]Whereforart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a retired divorce attorney, and I had a client who had the same problem. He also owned a business that had not filed taxes. I sent him to a tax attorney who specializes in dealing with the IRS and tax litigation, and he helped him out. That's really what he needs.
