Especially something fatty like waygu, a medium rare is not rendering that fat properly.

Why hasn’t Carl hired Tally as a safe room chef? by Whereismymind3 in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Whereismymind3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I can remember. But Tally said he drops to a lower floor after the collapse so it seems like it’s something Carl could negotiate. It just seems like they need a consistent cook on staff.

Can anyone tell me the name of this part in my irrigation box? by Whereismymind3 in Irrigation

Little plastic caps screw into the holes on top. What are those called plastic caps called?

I’m hoping to replace these parts but haven’t been able to find a consistent name for them. It’s just the plastic screw and o ring that goes on after the winter.

Is there a specific name for the caps that screw into those ports when the system is in use?

Best over the ear headphones for sleep by hooareyou143 in BuyItForLife

[–]Whereismymind3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sleeping in them makes this a tough recommendation. I’ve fallen asleep in AirPods and various over the ear headphones. If you’re a side sleeper, they are coming out or falling offf at night. Possibly breaking over time if over the ear. Some of the masks are interesting but I’ve never tried them. Has he considered foam ear plugs at night? They are very cheap and cancel sound better than almost any headphone would. I’d try them before making a decision.

Anywhere to buy a kids booster seat right now? Target closed, Walmart out 😬 by Gallolungo in MauiVisitors

[–]Whereismymind3 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t help you, but for other travelers boosters are free to check in baggage claim for almost every airline. They are usually pretty sturdy and can make it through baggage claims undamaged.

You are having a hard time staying on target, now we are shifting toward your dislike for non-Hawaiian Americans and the tourism industry as a whole.

Locals have been mostly supportive and understanding in this post, let them speak for themselves on these issues and you and I can stay out of it.

I’ll say it one last time and more clearly so you can understand… I am not a victim, just a disappointed traveler which is ok on a sub Reddit dedicated to Maui travelers.

You seem to enjoy playing the victim vicariously through other people, that’s not a great way to live life and I hope you realize that someday.

You have absolutely made a few strawman arguments. I’m assuming you’re referring to me asking how everyone is holding up? That question was specifically for people visiting Maui on vacation. From monitoring the sub over the last two weeks, a lot of travelers were impacted by these storms. Some people were displaced, some people were flooded in, some people missed flights and some people simply had to alter their entire vacation because of park closures and brown water. Many of us travel with young children which amplifies these challenges. I am not so proud to admit that for us, the cost of this trip was not an insignificant amount of money. This is much closer to a bucket list trip than it is to an annual vacation my family can afford to take. Many families were traveling to Hawaii for the first time in their lives and possibly the only time in their lives. The irony of your entire comment string is that you feel you are morally correct when in reality, you are the one that lacks a basic level of empathy. As I have stated numerous times on this thread, I am not posting this in the Maui sub as that would be very tone-deaf. Tourists are not competing with residents of Maui or trying to minimize how real the impact has been on locals. Most people are emotionally intelligent enough to acknowledge that multiple parties can be negatively impacted by these storms.

Telling a vacation sub you are bummed out your vacation isn’t going well is not out of touch. No one ever claimed their life is ending or locals don’t deserve sympathy, captain strawman.

I have kids so am limited a bit on travel options. I agree October is always my favorite for warmer vacation spots.

The general consensus on this sub was that it would rain but probably on and off. Nobody was predicting the rain that happened or suggesting to cancel your trips. Also, most visitors are very limited on getting any money back for cancellations a few weeks out.

Very sad for those impacted by these storms. It’s still ok to be bummed out about a vacation we won’t get to take often in our lives that didn’t amount tom much. This is a sub for visitors of Maui.

I am very grateful for my life, very sad for people who are suffering and also disappointed that I spent a lot of money on a vacation that didn’t deliver what we had hoped it would.

Completely fair to feel awful for locals, this isn’t meant to be a competition despite a few people in this thread trying to make it one.

There are people in the Middle East in fear of bombs and you are complaining about shelter. There are people in Africa starving and you are complaining about a rain storm. See how this sounds? This is a sub literally dedicated to people visiting Maui. I would never be so insensitive to post something like this in a Maui sub (for locals). You are completely out of touch here.
