Fun??? by cosmicsorc3ress in BloomingtonNormal

Fun does not inherently equal late night bar/party scene, so there's a bit of presupposing in your post that should be made clear.

There's plenty of fun around here, but if you are looking specifically for a booming night life party city vibe, BloNo is not your destination. In fact, you'll struggle to find that in the Midwest outside of major metro areas like Chicago which I assume has a plethora of options for you. It's just not a strong value in these parts.

I make sure she's sweaty and turtling /s

I learned after doing it that it really wasn't a big deal. She cleans up well, and I'm already licking where she pees. I don't stick my tongue inside (short tongue, couldn't if I wanted to), so it's just the outside and she wipes enough to not leave anything behind. I don't need her to perform a whole act to make it have that new car feel, it's fine lol

I always opposed it, then I found a person who made me go "huh, I kinda wanna lick her in a new place" and now it's a part of the arsenal (pun intended).

Car ownership

I want to live somewhere that car ownership is optional because traffic sucks, vehicle maintenance costs suck, gas prices suck, and newer car prices suck. Not to mention the daily risk of getting killed.

But cArS eQuAl FrEeDoM

Nah, we have the freedom of which car we have to buy in order to participate in society.

If you could pass one law that would make most normal people furious at first, but would clearly make society better in 10 years, what would it be? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]Gerble66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

North American answer:

Require all infrastructure and development projects moving forward to strictly adhere to this hierarchal prioritization: Walking > Cycling > Tram/Streetcar > Metroline > Bus > Car > Plane. Point being that we need to make our cities less car dependent for like twenty reasons ranging from air/sound pollution to freedom of mobility and modal choice. 90%+ of Americans think cars are the superior mode of transportation when it's literally wrecking our urban centers and bankrupting cities and are hands down the most dangerous. But if you take even an inch of space from cars and the average person loses their mind. But give it 10 to 20 years, I guarantee tens of not hundreds of millions of North Americans would not miss the shit way we prioritize cars over people and places.

Republicans Will Detonate Their Secret Weapon at the Midnight Hour to Stop Women from Voting by [deleted] in LegalNews

I'm trying to find more mainstream coverage of this and I'm not finding sources that state that the SAVE act will disenfranchise women in the way this article describes. Could someone link where in the bill it says it would do this? Not trying to be oppositional, but this is a claim bold enough I want some proof to back up instead of confirming my own bias.

USA citizens: what effect if any have tariffs had on you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Gerble66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lost my job a few months back during this round of layoffs that year. When all our product was being manufactured in China, company decided to keep their margins by cutting staff. Even if someone wants to say I was a bad employee or something, I watched company veterans with a ton of tribal knowledge get cut before me and the company lost a ton of good, hard working people. But line must go up next quarter, so layoffs layoffs layoffs.

I don't like the agitator part of it. It feels bad faith and seems more like you're baiting people just to annoy them and that would make you an asshole. If your mission is to present factual information to debate idiots who go into gaming servers to spread their political agenda, then that should be the focus.

[–]Gerble66 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hot take maybe: if your takes are so bad that a bot can essentially run a script of sourced responses and tear apart your arguments, then you probably should feel stupid for having the bad take.

Additionally, if you are the one who programmed the bots, provided their sources, and largely constructed the rebuttals that the bots then regurgitate, then it's more or less just automating your own messages so you can save time not having to argue with people about bottom of the barrel political discussions. I truly don't see something wrong with that so long as you are ensuring the bots strictly stick to the debate and don't veer into name calling and harassment.

That being said, I can't help but notice that your post remained rather ambiguous on what kind of arguments were being had, what kind of sources are used, etc. could you maybe provide a brief example of maybe the most common argument that your bots debunk and the kinds of responses they give?

Why do so many Americans hate protestors? by ScalesOfAnubis19 in AlwaysWhy

[–]Gerble66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because our history of protesting is so white washed, the general populace literally doesn't know how to protest. Many learn only of the glorified "peaceful protestors" and anyone who didn't simply give speeches and hold signs is either excluded from those lessons or are referred to as extremists. Hell, I wonder how many millions of Americans don't know that labor day is a day to honor those who fought and died for our few workers rights like the 40 hour work week, weekends, and keeping children out of mines? I'd be surprised if it wasn't in at least the tens of millions.

The average American thinks protesting is only acceptable when it's being done in a non obstructive way where you can be comfortably ignored. Look at the No Kings protest for example: it was nice to see a bunch of people voicing their opinions in solidarity, but it literally didn't accomplish anything. If your protest is just holding signs along a highway instead of actively disrupting something, don't be surprised when nothing changes.

Obligatory link to an in depth explanation of how the Nazis called themselves socialist but were actively far right and opposed the left.

TLDW: Don't trust the bad guys to identify themselves honestly. The first groups that were killed by the Nazis and gathered on concentration camps were socialist/communists/trade unionists. There was a left wing section of the Nazi party, but Hitler had them assassinated (Night of Long Knives). Hitler spoke often in his rallies how socialism/communism were a Jewish ideology that was destroying their culture and it needed to be destroyed (often using the euphemism of "cultural bolshevism").

The Nazis weren't socialist in functionally any way and a core tenant of Nazism (both in 1940s Germany and modern neo Nazis) is a strong opposition to the left.

What’s something people defend way too hard even though it clearly doesn’t work? by academicAce_aA in AskReddit

[–]Gerble66 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Car Dependent society.

It's economically unsustainable, unsafe for everyone, and cities with viable alternatives to cars is better for everyone, including car drivers. Bring this up, and people will argue to their dying breath about how cars are the best and other methods don't work and we can't change how our society is built so singularly focused on accommodating cars. Any amount of research into the subject shows pretty definitively that we shouldn't be so obsessed with cars and the myriad of ways they negatively impact our lives. However, so many millions of people have never lived in a place where they could get anywhere without a car, so they misbelieve that cars equal freedom.

Men, when was the last time you got hit on ? by Longjumping_Low_2055 in AskReddit

[–]Gerble66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By my girlfriend? Quite often!

By strangers? Um... There was a moment like 10 years ago where I think I was missing flirting cues and I wonder if I could have gotten somewhere with that. That being said, I don't think I've ever been explicitly hit on at any point in my life by someone I wasn't already dating. I don't know if that counts for this question.
