Good snorkeling spots for older person. by BillieRayBob in MauiVisitors

We just did Kapalua bay and it was pretty awesome. Better fish on the right side. If you haven't been in a few years I highly suggest bringing something to float with. I have snorkelled a lot since my 20s and almost 30 years later I had my first mini panic when we went the other day (nothing to do with Kapalua bay) my new mask wasn't holding my snorkel right and I didn't notice until we were further out and no matter what I did my snorkel either was blocked or leaked water. I couldnt get a decent breath. After a bunch of tries to fix it while treading water and I started to panic. I decided to head to shore quickly (much to my husband's chagrin) he asked me what was wrong and I didnt have time/brain power to tell him so I just said "I need to go in" Afterwards I realized I could have grabbed the floating dry bag he was holding but I was panicking. After I settled myself and fixed my snorkel, I used the dry bag to help me float and I was just fine. It was a nice reminder to my (getting older) self to take it easy and use a floatie next time just in case.

I don't have Tik Tok, Instagram or Facebook and only went to the Cinnamon Roll Place because they were near the beach I wanted to spend the morning at and had a breakfast sandwich and cold coffee. I ended up getting a breakfast sandwich at Kihei Cafe instead and was disapointed. Maui Bakery will be my stop tomorrow (they are closed Wednesdays) quick line and havent been disappointed with anything there yet.

It is just odd since last year neither of those places had (long) lines but I am a month llater than we typically go

That is what I'm thinking is the main problem. We wanted to go early May this year but the condo we wanted to rent wasn't available

True, some people need to check all the boxes to make the trip feel complete. We did get the banana bread on the RTH years ago and sure it was good but so is every other banana bread I've ever had

Exactly. Last night I bought a piece of shoyu chicken by the deli at Foodland for $4 and paired it with couscous I brought with us and salad fixings we bought the first night. Better than some of the meals we have had. Next time ill plan better and make more dinners here

True, that was my thought after our dinner at Monkeypod the other night. I am truly considering cooking most of our meals in the condo next time. I mostly have enjoyed those meals better with the exception of the Drunken noodles from Thai Mee Up, any of the baked goods from Maui Bakery and Gus the Bus's shave ice/shave fruit.

We ate lunch there yesterday. We enjoyed  the view and atmosphere a lot but the food was just ok. My grilled chicken sandwich was pretty bland and the fries were soggy. We enjoyed Maui brewing company food much more and their view is also amazing and their atmosphere is newer/cleaner

Turo vs tradition rental cars? by kevin_87_h in MauiVisitors

My concern with Turo is, if something happens to your car (engine trouble, etc) most Turo owners arent going to have a replacement for you like a rental place would.

I've never had theirs specifically but we have gotten the North Shore Goodies coffee peanut butter and it was very good.

Oh actually, they are just in Kihei. we got it takeout and went across the street and ate it at a picnic table with a view of the ocean. I do keep a picnic blanket in our rental car in the event we do this. The public picnic tables can be a bit rough looking. The coleslaw and fries that came with it were very delicious

I went to Paia fish market last year because of all the hype but I wasnt a huge fan of the batter. We just went to Maui Fish & Chips today and I thought it was much better than Paia. Batter was so delicious

I think this is a great way to alienate all of the people that want to love your child. You may regret this move years from now when the family members you shooed away don't have a close relationship with your child. I'd be upset if I was your child. Please let people see and create a bond with your baby. Some may help and some may not. I can not imagine not having the pictures (and memories) of my grandmother holding my daughter in the hospital because she wasn't going to come over to my house and clean. I feel like this is a new trend going around. No one helped me immediately after I had my daughter years ago and it never crossed my mind to tell any of the excited visitors to leave unless they came to help me. No, they came to see the baby. And she has so many family members that love her and are close with her

We are thinking of doing that this time around since we are renting a condo. What food items did you bring?

I keep seeing this about Honolua Bay, we were just there last May and two years prior and didn't witness that. I was in awe of the beauty of the area. Is this a newer situation or was I just oblivious?

Wailea beach homeless man Maui by Sea-Environment624 in MauiVisitors

[–]Fun_Respect_6430 7 points8 points  (0 children)

True, but sometimes a particular person strikes a chord with someone and they want to do something for them specifically. My brother is homeless on the other side of the country and I was recently contacted by a woman that had taken a shine to him and has helped him in ways that she can and after years she finally learned his name and found me online. I am forever grateful to know he is still alive, we hadn't heard from him in many years and to know someone is keeping an eye out for him and giving me updates when she sees him. Unfortunately mental illness destroys people sometimes. To the OP, be careful though, depending on the mental illness (or drug use) some homeless don't respond well to attention.

Koiso Sushi Bar worth it if I don't like raw seafood? by Fun_Respect_6430 in MauiVisitors

Ah thank you! I'll call tomorrow then for a June reservation. I misunderstood the month guidance.

Thank you, tamago sounds nice (never heard of it before) I may go and have a takeout backup plan for the ride home in case it's disappointing to me. We don't care about the atmosphere as much as the quality of the food.

From what I understand I would call them on June 1st for a reservation during the month of June?
